85 Days Out
If we were on the island...

Hurley found a van! A beat up old volkswagon van! Filled with a skeleton and really old DHARMA beer. There are way too many weird things on this island.

So just when we were all feeling better about things, because Kate and Sawyer were back, they're gone again. They took Sayid and Rousseau with them to try to rescue Jack from the Others' encampment. Apparently, the Others have houses with running water and electricity over there. Man, what I would give for a hot shower and a blanket bigger than the Oceanic airplane blankets we've been putting up with.

Claire saw some migratory birds and had a great idea! Since the birds are tagged, someone must be studying them. She suggested we catch one and tie a message to its leg. With help from Sun, Jin and Charlie, they were able to do it. Of course, they just wrote on a normal piece of paper, and we're talking about water birds, so I am not sure how likely it will be that anyone will see the message.

Nikki and Paulo are dead. There was some big mystery surrounding their deaths since there wasn't any sign of injury. At the funeral, Sawyer sprinkled some diamonds on their bodies before they buried them. Okay, that was weird. I mean, wouldn't they be worth a LOT when we finally get off this island?

Kate, Sayid and Jack returned! This time Locke is missing. It seems he chose to go with Ben's group instead of returning to us. They brought one of the Others with them. Apparently, her name is Juliet and she is a fertility doctor (which I guess is good for Sun) and Jack says we can trust her. I am not so sure, yet. I mean she was one of the ones who had Sawyer and Kate trapped in cages!

I overheard Kate and Sayid talking. It seems that while they were looking for Jack, they found another station, where there was all kinds of communication equipment. Only Locke blew it up.

They also said something about a submarine and how Ben promised Jack and Juliet they could go home (Jack operated on Ben and saved his life I think). Only Locke blew that up, too.

(It is probably just as well Locke didn't return. I am pretty sure that a lot of people would have put him on the chopping block for messing up our chances of being rescued.)

But just when everyone thought we were all safe and together, Hurley, Desmond, Charlie and Jin went off on some mysterious "camping" trip. I don't know why these folks all go LOOKING for trouble!

Okay, to recap the comments at the end of the last post:

L4E suggested that since there are only six of us "regulars" we should a vote to see if we can discuss the title of Season 5 Episode 1.

L4E voted yes
PJS voted yes

The latest trivia question is from L4e:

Who was the rich girl that Charlie tried to con? He also became a copier salesman for her father.

(I don't know the answer, but I can see the girl's face!)

: ) P

So we have our OWN O6

Hammer votes yes.

LOL. I think that's what we did early on in the life of the little island. Didn't we each pick our own O6'er to "be" back then?

Don't ask you about spoilers? Okay, well then how about you tell us how you know that stuff (even if you don't tell us what you know!)?

Does this mean you are amenable to discussing the first episode's title, DocH? Or would you prefer not to?

DocH said: "The Hydra 6"
We each have our own room on the small island (Room# 4, 8, 15, 16, 42 and 108). Karl used to be 23, haven't seen him lately. PJs in Room 108, the penthouse suite.

I love it! They Hydra 6! Because the Hydra was on the little island! And I agree that none of us wants to be in room 23! LOL.

Good thinking, DocH.

I vote yes and would like to request room 16.

Finally got in to DWY (Dharma Wants You). Got a 68. Now how long is the next wait.

They should have given us 108 seconds, not 100.

I have no problem about "episode" title speculation - it is hardly a spoiler unless someone with INSIDER details tells you what it means or in what context it applies.
- - - -
The info I read is from a small blog in hawaii that follows the production folks around and has insider info from an extra on the set.
- - - -
If you really want to speculate... think about who you have seen in the ABC commercial about next season... and who you haven't.

Since we got TiVo, I don't watch ANY live television (except for LOST because our TiVo doesn't record in HD). So I haven't seen any commercials. Maybe I am better off! LOL.

Boy do we kick but in beach volleyball.:)

I believe the father of the girl Charlie tried to con liked DIAMONDS and the BEATLES.;)

Yes the H6, perfect.

So how many different possibilities for the episode title are there? The obvious is Locke. But maybe it is about all 6of them and maybe even Ben.

Off to Lostpedia to see if I am right (and then think of a new question).

Yep, Lucy.

Okay, the logo at the beginning of the show is black and white. Name two other instances (of several) when black and white come into play within the show.

I'm up to a 81 on Test 1. It seems to be running smoother today. There is one trick, your time does not start until the first peice is laid.

Very addictive.

Backgammon, Chess, black and white stones. I read somewhere that the Black and White stones were in the scene in Flashes Before Your Eyes, when Des wakes in the past.

PJSander said...

Very good L4E. I also remember someone having a dream where Locke had one black and one white eye.

Okay, you're up.

Thanks for the tip about retaking Test 1. With your help, I was able to improve my score from 71 on the first test, up to 85.

Of course, the "leader board" seems to only be about recruiting friends, not the scores on the tests. At least that is how I see it.

hey gang--I'm here. It's been an unreal week....straight out of an episode of "ER" or "Grey's Anatomy"....only real life. So surreal I'll share it w/ you. On the plus side, my SO is out of the land of restless volcanos. Home safe and sound. Onto the unreal part. I am friends with a couple that have a 1 year old. (I am especially close to the baby, Penny.) He is 35, She is 32. He had a heart attack on Mon. night and was set up for quadruple bypass on Tues. @ 2PM. (Family history of heart problems) I spoke with her Tues. AM, things were going as well as possible. While visiting him in pre-op, she passed out, hitting her head. A CAT scan was performed and she was rushed into emergency brain surgery. Both made it through their respective procedures. He has been moved out of ICU and is gaining strength every day though it is going to be a 6 week or so reccuperation. Her prognosis is a little more sketchy. She's still in ICU probably be in rehab for around as long as his reccuperation will be. Oh--and to top it off, their daughter turned 1 on Wednesday. Simply unbelievable. Penny is doing well--she's a little off, but not too bad. Babies are lucky like that. Throw another loving adult their way and they'll be ok. It's gonna be a long 6 weeks, but we're all keeping our fingers crossed. As far as discussing the title, I say go for it. I had read it somewhere and didn't think too much about it at the time. I took that test on Dharma a few times, but it didn't give me any numerical score. I'm not great w/ spatial relations but after a couple of attempts I did manage to complete it with some time left on the ticker.

PJSander said...

Wow, Miss Kim. You're right - it sounds like an episode of a tv show! My thoughts are with you, Penny, and her parents.

Scary stuff.

Miss Kim said...

Thanks PJ....it was nice that you guys "missed" me. btw....I refer to this blog as "my people"...and to that my SO refers to me as "dork". LOL. This week helps remind me how truly lucky most of us are, despite the trials and tribulations of daily life. It also reinforces to me as a parent how important it is to have some kind of "plan b".

Hopefully Dharma will start scoring my damn test soon....

Miss Kim said...

Well, my score finally registered. I guess they got the site working a bit better. My best score is a 60. I'm pretty far behind you guys, but I really suck at spatial relations. I actually have one or two puzzles in my pre-k classroom that are too "tricky" for me to do! I labled the pieces so I can put it together quickly if I have to. My score put me in the group called "Pandora".....that must be LOSTspeak for the lower functioning/self-contained classroom group!

Hi.

My name is lost4ever and I am a lostohlic and a gamer.

Growing up during the 80's I fell in love with any type of video game. First Atari, then Nintendo, then Playstation, etc. I would play for hours on end to beat my or my friends high score. This trend has carried over to the current day. Needless to say, It took me many more tries than 3 to get an 86 (Virtous?). I did not know about the spacebar feature and will not try it with that. I have always hated "cheat codes" on video games and consider that a "cheat". My latest addiction has been Call of Duty.

You got it PJ. The cigarette case. I said trying because, in the end, he was caught. He did not return it through his own free will.

I am also a Ganymede. I found someone that scored a 62 and is also a Ganymede. I wonder what the pattern is?

Sorry to hear, Miss Kim, about your friends. My prayers are with them.

Miss Kim said...

Thank you L4E.

I wonder if what grouped people had nothing to do w/ the actual scoring. It could be completely "random", like ABABABAB, depending on when an individual logged on for the test. Pandora had the gift of curiosity. I checked the dharmawantsyou site almost every day since I found out about it....sometimes more than once a day. I also had a thought that perhaps those of us that were checking the site regularly before it's official test launch date had a lot of what didn't escape from Pandora's jar: hope. Of course, all of you Ganymede's may have done exactly what I did, checking in regularly before it was supposed to be up an running. I read up on Ganymede in mythology in didn't really "get it"....with the exception of "being favored among Gods", I'm not quite sure how the whole mythos about Ganymede would play into LOST. Interestingly enough, I did see some kind of relevence in Ganymede, the moon of Jupiter. From Wikipedia: "Ganymede has a permanent (intrinsic) magnetic moment independent of the Jovian magnetic field. The value of the moment is about 1.3 × 1013 T·m3. The permanent magnetic moment carves a part of space around Ganymede, creating a tiny magnetosphere embedded inside that of Jupiter; it is the only moon in the Solar System known to possess the feature. In addition to the intrinsic magnetic moment, Ganymede has an induced dipole magnetic field. The induced magnetic field of Ganymede is similar to those of Callisto and Europa, indicating that this moon also has a subsurface water ocean with a high electrical conductivity." There is also a cool drawing which reminded me of something I saw somewhere attempting to illustrate a time/space LOST theory. Anyhow, just thought I'd pass that along for y'all to think about.

PJSander said...

Nice to see even more info on Ganymede, L4E, thanks. Maybe the island moved to Jupiter?!

Okay, question from me...

What was Jae holding when he crashed through the roof of Jin's car?

: ) P

Miss Kim said...

Jae had the pearls he wanted to give to Sun with him when he died. I thought that the unusual magnetic properties of Ganymede were interesting....perhaps this could be some kind of clue about the Island's unusual electromagnetic properties. OK back to the q&a. What was the name of the hotel that Jae's family owned/Jin worked at?

Miss Kim said...

Not sure how factual this is, but there seems like there was something called "Project Pandora", a U.S.military project related to microwaves and psychology... basically electomagnetism and mind control. Interesting.....

PJSander said...

Very interesting, Miss Kim!

Don't know the name of the hotel, though... Paik Plaza? LOL.

Cathing up.....

Good luck miss kim.

Locke might be the obvious title character, but what about Jack (wasn't supposed to leave), Ben (supposedly can't go back), Des (way more obscure), Kate/Sawyer reference?, Sun/Jin reference if Jin is still alive?....

lost4ever said...

The title "Because You Left" intially makes me think Locke/Jack. But as Hammer said there are many possibilities.
How many people left? Is 8 right? Ben, Desmond, and the o6. And then Locke left later.

Because You Left makes me think that one character's leaving the island resulted in something for another character on the island. So I would tie Locke/Jack together, but there could be others
as Hammer stated, Sawyer/Kate, Jin/Sun, maybe also Juliet/Ben?, Island/Aaron, Hurley/hurleybird?
Many possibilities.

The hotel sure wasn't a Holiday Inn Express.:) I have no idea what Hotel it was. Good one Miss Kim.

Anonymous said...

Frank left the island too but I don't think it's about him. I think it ties in with what happened when Jack took the O6 off the island. That is why Jeremy Bentham went out to try and bring them back.

So, what type of horrible things could have happened since/because Jack/the O6 left. Remember, Ben said they all had to go back so it may mean the entire O6.. Wonder if Ji Yeong needs to go back too. Ben said Locke/Bentham's body had to go back too.

The losties now have no leader and are at the mercy of the others. Locke had found the others somewhere near the Orchid. They were supposed to be at the Temple. Are the two close and are they related. Natives would put the Temple near the source of power if they new where that was.

What other terrible things happened because they left.

Hammer said...

Just guessing CM, but Locke doesn't have enough info about the island to be an effective leader. Some or all of the whisperers have decided to expose themselves in an attempt to be "freed" (remember that one of my theories is that the whisperers are dead in the island's time line which isn't the same as our time line) creating havoc. Locke panics as he feels he has no choice but to find Ben and the O6 to put the island back into harmony.

Crazy idea, eh? :)

lost4ever said...

CM: "Remember, Ben said they all had to go back so it may mean the entire O6.. Wonder if Ji Yeong needs to go back too. Ben said Locke/Bentham's body had to go back too."

Let's not foget the source. Ben said. Ben has been known to bend the truth when it suits his needs.

I think Locke was on the island for awhile before being booted, but I could be wrong.

PJSander said...

Not so crazy, Hammer!

I keep going back to who is LEFT on the island... Juliet, Sawyer, Claire(?), Rose, Bernard, Miles, Charlotte, Daniel(?), Locke (for now), Ben (for now), Jin(?), Richard, Cindy, Zack, Emma.

We watched Meet Kevin Johnson last night. In it, Michael pawns the watch that Jin was supposed to take to LA for Paik. There was a Korean inscription and I feel like that is going to be important somehow. I mean someone will find it and realize that if the watch is in New York, then it ISN'T in the Sundra Trench!

As for the title, I feel like everyone's theories are going to be way off - otherwise, they wouldn't have released the title already. Like the "frozen donkey wheel" was a clue and we didn't even realize just how MUCH! LOL.

: ) P

lost4ever said...

I'm disappointed PJ. You left out Charlie.:)

The titles of the episodes are usually pretty accurate and have meaning.

Hammer said...

You might be correct PJ, but I'm sticking to all things whispered. :)

Anonymous said...

People have left the island before. Richard, Ben, Goodspeed, Tom, Michael, Ethan and the guy who got beat up. Why was it OK for them to leave but not the O6. They left and could come back. We are assuming that Charlotte and Miles were on the island as well as Dan and they left. Did anything bad happen because they were there. Is it different for those who come intentionally or were born there than it is for those "brought" to the island? Where does Juliette fall in those catagories?

Richard's leaving the island seemed to be tied to recuting. Tom's seemed to be damage controll but could be thought to be recuting Michael back. Locke as Bentham was recuting back the O6.

Exploding the hatch made the island "findable." Moving the island "hid" it again.

OK, so waiting for the next epi was something I was getting used to but now I am anxious again. I bet that is why they let it out. We will discard the obvious and theorise for months and then the obvious will be the answer. At least it is something new to talk about.

PJSander said...

L4E said: The titles of the episodes are usually pretty accurate and have meaning.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly! What I meant was that they are rarely what anyone PREDICTS they will be.

L4E said: I'm disappointed PJ. You left out Charlie.:)

Actually, I didn't leave him OUT - I think he is OFF the island! LOL.

CM said: We are assuming that Charlotte and Miles were on the island as well as Dan and they left.

I don't think they left. I think they are stuck there just like Sawyer et al. I think it may be that the only way to get off the island (while it is hidden) is by turning the frozen donkey wheel. (Speaking of which, I amend my statement above which says that Ben is on the island - d'uh!)

CM said: Is it different for those who come intentionally or were born there than it is for those "brought" to the island? Where does Juliette fall in those catagories?

Good questions. MAYBE the only way Ben "is allowed back" to the island is to bring those on Jacob's list BACK to the island. We know that Jack wasn't ON Jacob's list because Ben brought him to the dock to do his needed spinal surgery. Kate was on Jacob's list. Aaron, as a "native" may be. Maybe Jack has to go back so that Kate and Aaron will go back. Sun wasn't on Jacob's list, but maybe because of Ji-Yeon, she has to come back. I don't know if Hurley was on Jacob's list, or if he was only brought to the dock to be the one to go back and warn the others.

So much to wrap my head around - and that is WITHOUT the time travel element!

: ) P

Miss Kim said...

Hi Hammer. Thanks.
What if "Because You Left" has nothing at all to do w/ the island? It could be some kind of fb or ff where one person (Rousseau, Faraday, Charlotte, anyone else) left someone/something or was left by someone/something..............

lost4ever said...

Maybe "Because You Left" referring to Hurley. He was the glue between Jack and Locke, IMO.

About Jacob's list, how many "hostiles" have access to Jacob's list? Just Ben? I am not so sure what he says is Canon in the LOST world. When he tells Jack they all have to go back, maybe, in some way, that is the ONLY way Ben can make it back.

We watched The Shape of Things to Come last night. Something caught my attention more than it did the first time I saw it. After the explosion that basically blew up "Claire's" house to the frame, which Claire "survived" this encounter happened in Ben's house:

SAWYER: You all right, sweetheart?

CLAIRE: Yeah, a bit wobbly, but, uh, I'll live.

MILES: Well, I wouldn't be too sure about that.

I wonder if that means Claire *is* dead, or if Miles knows that is where she is headed. I know we've seen Dave *hit* Hurley in his hallucinations. I know we've seen Charlie *slap* Hurley in whatever that encounter was. But can a DEAD Claire (a walking whisperer) actually CARRY a live baby?

Hmmm.

PJSander said...

Charlie's "Greatest Hits" (probably not in the right order)

- learning to swim with his dad
- hearing their first song on the radio
- getting the DS ring from Liam
- being a "hero" when rescuing Nadia from the mugger
- the night he met Claire

That was a GREAT question!

Here's my question - what are the six things that Captain Eyeliner shows little boy Locke when he asks which are "his" already?

Interesting note - we watched Something Nice Back Home and the first part of the season finale last night. In it, Abaddon is wheeling Locke to the elevator and having a discussion about the walkabout:

LOCKE: And here you are, an orderly.

ABADDON: Oh, I'm a lot more than just an orderly, John.

ABADDON: When you're ready, Mr. Locke... you'll listen to what I'm saying. And then when you and me run into each other again... you'll owe me one.

To which DH says, very matter-of-factly, "So Abaddon is Jacob."

I never made that leap, but it works for me! LOL

Excellent, Miss Kim! Well whichever one of the two of you (Miss Kim or Hammer) returns to the site first, can ask the next question!

Dh and I watched parts 2 & 3 of There's No Place Like Home. FTR, I bawled as hard this time, and got goosebumps, when Penny and Desmond were reunited as I did the FIRST time I saw it!

One thing I realized - Sawyer doesn't know Kate made it off the freighter. That is sad. I hope Juliet cheers him up. *bg*

We're almost half way through the waiting time (well that is a bit of an exaggeration, but it helps to think positively).

: ) P

lost4ever said...

Were only a third of the way PJ. 5 months to go ( Late Jan., if not earl Feb. ). It's only been 2 and a half months. Reality over positivity, for me, in this instance.:)

PJSander said...

Fair enough - but I think the finale was three months ago today - so we are 3/8 of the way through (if we have to wait until the end of January - which I expect we will). That *IS* "nearly" half! LOL

: ) P

lost4ever said...

You are correct PJ. 3/8 or .375. .375 is halfway between .25 and .5.
The GreenDay song When September Ends is the perfect song to mark our halfway point, because that is the halfway point, the end of September.:)
Thanksgiving will be nearly the 3/4 mark. HOLY SHITE.
Can't wait for the Browns to win the Superbowl. That means LOST will be here.

I haven't seen the promo, DocH. I went to abc dot com to look, and saw all kinds of OTHER things, but no LOST promo. During which shows is it playing? Maybe I will record the shows JUST to see the promo! LOL.

Sorry, I used the weekend for it's name...literally...LABOR DAY!!. Had to do end of the season inventory and re-org for the rental biz.

What university are the DeGroots affiliated with. Hint...their football team lost their second home season opener in a row this weekend.

Hammer said...

Hey doc, can't access your profile...what's up?

PJSander said...

Um, yeah. No idea. And for me, the football hint doesn't help! LOL.

I did see a one minute ABC promo on youtube - for ALL the ABC shows. Maybe that's the one you meant, DocH? Jin, Hurley, Sawyer, Jack and Kate, I think.

D&C said that we haven't seen the last of Jin and Locke in SOME form, so they're both working this season! LOL.

There's a new test @ DWY. My score was a 64%, got me ranked as Enceladus (a moon of Jupiter and a Greek Giant I think). Watch out for the SIDES of the puzzle as well as the moving orbs!

Neither of my first two tests have ranks there now. Odd.

There is a video from Hans if you click on the center of the DHARMA logo. It has a couple of those "interference" blips (like on the old Halliwax / Candle / Wickman videos), but I couldn't get anything from them.

As for Fringe, I was really looking forward to it, I am a huge Reddick fan. I made the mistake of reading the reviews though.

And the promos DocH, I have not commented because I have not seen them. I am actually trying to avoid them. With less than 5 months to go now, 1 promo might get me too excited for such a long wait. As the title of the first episode did.

The Fall Season is here and I started off today with perhaps the BEST cop-show ever. The Shield. I am eagerly awaiting Heroes on the 22nd.

Okay I watched the video on DWY...if you have a fast mouse finger, you can pause and restart the video almost like a freeze frame progression. I have timed his words to when the video will be interupted and started clicking away. The interuptions look like animated grids, in some of them are numbers and letters, so far I have found 40, 60, B, and P.

No idea what to do with this....

Hammer said...

I have also seen a black swan...

PJSander said...

Well I don't know what the Black Swan or any of the names of the categories mean, but I will tell you that I think, overall, DWY is pretty lame. I wasn't around during Find 815 (I did some of it after it was completely over), so I don't know how it was structured week to week. DWY, however, it *not* particularly interesting, or engaging, especially given the hype at Comic-Con, etc.

I would be interested to hear how others feel about it.

First time poster--your theories are much more brilliant than mine. But I've been lurking here ever since the "Little Island" opened. There's a cheat for test #3.

PJSander said...

Welcome towanda! Not that the DWY tests are worth cheating on... what is the cheat?!

: ) P

Anonymous said...

Just wanted to make sure it was okay to say ... don't want to violate any rules on the first time out!

Type "lento" after you first click the Dharma logo. It will slow the balls down. They speed up after a while and you have to type it again.

My daughter was involved in the viral marketing for the Batman movie and gave me the hint.

I finally got 100%.

Anonymous said...

Found this online. This is how the video clues in to the "lento" cheat:

Cheat Clue: In the video of Hans Van Eeghen released September 2, 2008, there are several corruptions that show a frame or two of black swans and numbers and letters. The numbers are 40 and 60 and the letters are B,P, and M. In music, 40/60 BPM is known as Lento.

PJSander said...

It STILL took me a bunch of tries, but I finally got to 100% too. It was hard negotiating the flying orbs AND typing! LOL.

I wonder if there were cheats for the first two tests? I read that you could space bar or something in the puzzle.

Okay, now that we know there are cheats, I think we should establish a rule where we can't reveal cheats until the latest test has been up a couple of days. That way, if someone wants to do it F&S, they can.

If that doesn't sit well with anyone, please speak up!

: ) P

Anonymous said...

Used the cheat on test 3 and got 100%. I am now uncatorgized on tests one and two. I used to by ganymead and polythemus. Got a 99 on test one with the cheat. Press the space bar as soon as you move the first piece. Solve the puzzle and then hit the space again.

How did you all answer the last question on test two? What is the answer to this question? A B C or D.

PJSander said...

Circus Mom said: How did you all answer the last question on test two? What is the answer to this question? A B C or D.

I am also now unclassified on both tests one and two.

Just watched the pilot episode of Fringe. Don't want to give away anything for those of you interested, but I did notice one thing stolen from LOST that won't reveal too much. They used music from LOST finales in one scene. I am sure you will recognize it when you hear it.:)

lost4ever said...

Gotcha DocH. Do you have a link to the ABC promo? I really don't watch anything on that channel except for LOST.

It's a shame to hear there are "cheats" for the DWY.

What medical school did Jack attend?

PJSander said...

If you go to
http://abc.go.com/

and (after being subjected to a 30 second commercial) click on the magnifying glass in the right hand video panel. It will allow you to choose which video to see. The ABC promo that we're talking about is the one called "Don't Miss the Fun."

I have no idea about Jack's medical school. Good question!

: ) P

lost4ever said...

About the promo, I wonder if they showed LOST last because they are not really apart of the FALL season. I don't watch any other show on ABC, I did watch Pushing Daisies last year until the strike hit, and I only saw the 2 main charcters from that one. Did the other shows include all of their characters?

Anonymous said...

I think they used whoever was available for the promo on some of the shows. Since there will be some sort of "time travel" in the next season of Lost I would expect everyone we have seen before could make appearances at some point or another. Dead or alive (or undead) they can still appear.

PJSander said...

Okay, I have been thinking about the promo. Personally, I don't think there is a significance to who is in it, because D&C probably don't have any control over that. Plus, everyone ELSE in the promo was dressed up. Our LOSTies were in their green/brown island clothes - even Kate, Hurley and Jack. I wonder if they used old footage in that promo? Not ALL cast members are in EVERY show in that promo, but where they are all there, it has definitely been shot FOR the promo. The Pushing Daisies promo was (I think) footage they had for the two second teaser they showed at the end of other shows last season.

But back to our LOSTies... it occurs to me that Jin learned quite a bit of English VERY quickly - and I don't think that was just "business" to round out the story. I think he learned English because he DID jump off the freighter in time and Daniel and the redshirts picked him up in the raft and hustled back to disappear with the island. I also think that is why Charlotte knows Korean, so someone else can continue to teach him English!

: ) P

Anonymous said...
This comment has been removed by the author.
PJSander said...

I am not suggesting that someone COULDN'T learn English that quickly, but just that he DID. What I mean is, that when he got on the raft, he had a VERY limited grasp of English. That was half way through the stay on the island. Which left him 40 odd days to learn a LOT of English - enough to understand and communicate fairly well. Enough to survive on the island without Sun to translate. Convenient, is what I am saying.

I don't doubt that there is a GREAT backstory reason for Charlotte knowing Korean. It is just another CONVENIENT coincidence in driving the future of Jin's story, because I believe he survived. I HOPE he survived.

Hanna came through and blew and spit at us, but on a drive around this morning, we saw little damage, thankfully. I think our area will escape Ike, and Josephine is dithering a bit right now, so who knows where she'll end up - if at all!

: ) P

Miss Kim said...

PJ-I think that you have raised an interesting point about the Charlotte/Jin language thing. A coincidence usually isn't just a coincidence on LOST. I like your thought process!

PJSander said...

Thanks, Miss Kim!

I had a thought about Jack and medical school - I remember Juliet quoting Jack's file, saying that he finished medical school a year early. I think she said he was at Columbia.

Am I right, L4E?

: ) P

PJSander said...

Okay, I just looked it up. What I said was right... Columbia and finishing medical school a year early. Since no one else has guessed, I don't think I am messing it up by saying that Lostpedia says he went to UCLA for medical school though. But I can't find in which episode that is specified. Does anyone remember?

In the meantime, since I was close, I will ask a question!

We've seen many of our 815 survivors buried on the island. At least six were buried at the beach. Name the one who was buried, but NOT at the beach.

: ) P

Hammer said...

That was Eko, they thought that there were too many people buried in their makeshift grave yard.

PJSander said...

Speaking of burials, what driving story-point, do you think, for *someone* burying Rousseau and Karl? I mean it doesn't make sense that Keamy's mercenaries would take the time to dig (albeit very shallow) graves, does it? Story-wise Miles' discovery of their bodies could have been done just by having them in the jungle hidden, so I have to believe there is another reason those bodies were buried. Maybe something to do with "bodies on this island don't stay buried?"

: ) P

PJSander said...

Fast work, Hammer!

Your turn.

: ) P

Hammer said...

Most of the stuff that is inconsistent I remember because I try to figure why it would be different, like this one...I remember because they decided to bury him where they found him. They made a point to mention it so I thought there would be a BIG reason for it....anyway.

Here's an obscure one...what color did Jin's roomate tell him "love" is?
It was when he first ran into Sun.

PJSander said...

No clue, Hammer! LOL. I do remember the scene, but not the color!

As far as remembering things BECAUSE they are inconsistent, I find I do the same thing. Things stand out because I want to know WHY they are different.

: ) P

Miss Kim said...

Love is.........orange?

Anonymous said...

They burried Eko away from the beach because Locke said the survivors had had to deal with too much death recently. The Marshall was also burried away from the beach. Jack burried him in the jungle and he and Kte later went back and dug him up for the key to the silver case.

No idea what color love is. I'll try green just to guess.

Anonymous said...

Fringe = awesome! I laughed out loud at the 'shwoosh' sound prior to commercial breaks.
Ababamamammanadaaon (Yes, thats what I will refer to him as from now on) is freaking CREEPY! But surely this doesn't mean that we wont see him on Lost anymore, right?

I was a huge Lord of the Rings fan and I remember the actors in the fellowship each got a tattoo of something. I think it had something to do with the number 9, for the 9 members of the fellowship.

Won't have time to check out your tests until next week.:(

After watching the ending of Fringe a second time, the last 20 minutes really came together. I thought there was too much cheese in the first hour. What is the other reference to LOST DocH?

Did anyone catch the commercial for Massive Dynamics?

PJSander said...

Julie, Miss Kim, take your links to www.tinyurl.com and get shorter URL's because they're falling off the edge here and I can't pick up the whole link!

I made my test hard because the DWY multiple choice tests are similarly difficult... you either know it, or can take a reasonable guess at it or you just get it all wrong! LOL.

I think I will do one with LOST trivia just for fun - doubt that DWY would use it officially, but it would be fun for us to take!

: ) P

PJSander said...

Regarding Fringe: LOVED it. The second half was definitely better than the first, but I think much of the beginning was establishing the background and the characters. Did anyone else spend an inordinate amount of time looking for easter eggs - in numbers, background signs, etc?

I did see the mini-commercial for Massive Dynamics!

I won't say anything more specific in case there are some who still want to see it but haven't. But do you think we may learn what Captain Eyeliner's been taking to stay looking so young? LOL

Miss Kim, your correct in Philosophy, there is rarely a right answer (I minored in it..lol)

PJSander said...

Miss Kim, I only got three right on your test and I guessed on the all! LOL.

Julie, I only got three right on your test, too... but after what Miss Kim said, I didn't expect to get ANY right!

There is a "test 4" up at DWY now. No score, but my category is "Helios" this time.

Julie said...

Well, Kim.
I got a 50% on your test. I think the only reason I got THAT many right is due to the fact that up until the begining of this year I lived in the middle of the Arizona Desert and worked at the hospital. Every so often we would have to take courses on 'natural cures' for things.

Hey guys... I have a question.
Remember how in the good ole days when Smokey would attack we would see images involving the person being attacked "in" the smoke?
Did we see, or did anyone see stills of, anything in Smokey when he attacked Keamy and his men?

PJSander said...

Julie, I do not remember seeing any images in Smokey in the episode with Keamy and the mercenaries. Good point, though!

Did anyone catch the fleeting reference to LOST on SNL last night? It was during an insipid sketch, which I usually would have FF'd through - but it was a new cast member, so I thought I would give it a chance. Anyway, this waiter/server person talked about there being a pepper smell and gave several analogies. One was about the Pepper Monster from LOST getting stuck in the restaurant.

It didn't make the sketch funny, but I got a kick out of the LOST shout-out.

Okay... so now I know that I'm completely addicted.
I'm driving to lunch today and thinking about ole smokey. (I laugh every time I say that because I live in TN and that's what we call the Univ of TN mascot) I dont know why this popped in to my mind but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea.
So... the original 'others' the ones that used to inhabit New Otherton (?) are obvoiusly afraid of Smokey. I mean they built this huge sonar fence to keep him (yes, it's a boy) out. We have all accepted this is the truth. Smokey = bad juju.
So, here's where my brain wondered today. In season 4 Ben 'released' Smokey on Keamy and his Rambo wanna-bes...or Rambo has-beens..... or did he????? Stay with me here.
Why are the others so afraid of Smokey if he can be obviously somewhat controlled by Ben? If Smokey is being kept outside the fence when how was he able to get inside the fence once Ben summoned him?
Here's my theory. There are TWO Smokeys! I'll brand one a girl and one a boy just to keep the ideas separate.
So, boy Smokey has somehow gotten out of control. He floats around the island flashing...printing parking tickets for rehabed VW vans..lol.. JUDGING people. Maybe this is where my brain was heading when I asked about the 'images' when Smokey attacked Keamys men. I think that 'he' is beyond the control of Ben and has taken on protecting the island and doing the things that we normally attribute to him.
Now, for Smokey numero dos. :) Maybe the weaker Smokey? (Not that girls are weaker!!! lol) She is controllable by Ben. She hasn't had to judge thus why we didn't see the flashes, the images. Why the sound she made was a little different than that of the normal smokey. Maybe why Keamy's guy wasn't KILLED by her.. just injured (later dying).
Okay.. so am I way off the rocker with this?????

PJSander said...

DocH, I wanted to read your Fringe review again and when I clicked on Drama and Fringe (from the drop down menu), the page was blank. I found the tinyurl again, so I know it is still on the site. Are they waiting to see if anyone can write a review as good as yours? I don't think anyone can!

The answer to Charlie's tattoo question is "Living is easy with eyes closed." I like it because it relates to a song from Wicked (which is based on the book by Gregory Maguire, which the "backstory" of the witches of Oz" - Maybe we should do six degrees of LOST!), which says "life is fraughtless, when you're thoughtless" and "life's more painless for the brainless."

Okay, so here's a question for you, who is the first character to speak in the pilot? What does that character say?

4 episodes in one night, I love it. Just like the DVD's, except with commercials.

I was going by transcript, so the answer I was looking for was Michael yelling, "WAAAALT!" Plus, that's just funny.

But L4E, I will also acknowledge Claire's yelling for help! So... the first one of you two to return to the little island can ask the next question! Julie? L4E? Who's it gonna be?
