100 Days Out...
If we were on the island

While Jack was on the phone with the guy from the freighter, the previously-thought-dead Naomi wandered off. The rest of us headed back to the beach while Kate, Jack and Rousseau (with Ben in tow) went looking for Naomi.

But I nearly forgot the most exciting part! Hurley rescued the people at the beach! I guess that only two of the traps went off and Sayid, Jin and Bernard were taken captive by some of the others. Juliet and Sawyer doubled back to see if they could help, as did Hurley. Hurley saved the day! He ran that crazy old VW bus right over one of the Others and that gave Sayid the chance he needed to get the rest. Hooray for Hurley!

On the way back to the beach, we met up with everyone else. Funny how on this great big island, we all, every one of us, ended up in the same place - right near the wreckage of the cockpit. Jack wanted everyone to get to the beach to be rescued. Locke was still acting crazy saying that we needed to avoid the people on the freighter (if he could give us just ONE concrete reason WHY maybe I wouldn't think he was so crazy!). In the end, we split into two groups. One was going back to the barracks with Locke and the other was going to the beach with Jack.

The really sad news is that Charlie is dead. He drowned while making sure the rest of us would be rescued. We are all in shock.

Over the course of the next few days, a number of people "switched camps" (some several times). I don't have any idea WHY but I will tell you this, just HEARING Minkowski on the phone was enough to make me want to stay at the beach.

Actually, there are some people from the freighter among us now. Charlotte, a red-headed anthropologist who has a bit of an attitude and Daniel, who seems to be a very kind-hearted scientist - maybe a physicist of some kind. They keep to themselves and only seem to talk to Jack and a few others. That's fine, as long as their people show up, I am happy.

I think Christmas was a few days ago. No one seemed to care enough to talk about it - maybe because simple milestones like surviving the night are enough to celebrate.

The last few days have been very confusing - people coming and going from the beach. I thought I heard a helicopter fly overhead a couple of days ago and then Sayid came TO the island on a small motorboat! He was going to take people back to the freighter and then instead, took off into the jungle! Jin took a group of people out to the freighter and came back for more. I think I will be on the next boat. Oh I hope so!

New Promo

Just when we were finally starting to get LOST out of our system, ABC released a new promo. Enjoy:

It requires a lot of views to take everything in, so don't worry about seeing "too much" the first time around. But since it is released by ABC, I consider it to be spoiler-free.

There is another version, which includes the actors' voices. The promo is much better. Instead of having to sit through the inane Hallowe'en costume clip, just put your mouse over the center of the frame and then click on the white arrow which points to the right.

UPDATE (Edited 11/7/08): The promo below now has a different 30 second promo, followed by the inane Hallowe'en clip. The FF arrows are gone, as apparently is the "old" promo.

91 Days Out
If we were on the island...

We were almost to the radio tower, when Ben and Alex showed up! They were just standing there waiting for us. That guy is so creepy. He and Jack had a conversation, but I couldn't hear it properly. I think Ben said something about how we shouldn't call Naomi's people. Is he CRAZY? We want to get off the island!

Then Ben and Jack disappeared behind some rocks and a few minutes later, Jack brought bloody Ben back out and asked Rousseau to tie him up. It is then that Rousseau was finally reunited with her long lost daughter Alex! Not that they had time to enjoy the reunion.

We finally got to the radio tower and the green light on Naomi's satellite phone came on! She told Claire that her "rock star boyfriend" got us all rescued! Unfortunately, all the phone picked up was Rousseau's old distress call, so a few people went into the radio tower to turn off her signal. Just as Naomi was about to make a connection, a flying dagger pierced her back! Locke just killed her! (Actually, it turns out that though we thought she was dead, she was only wounded, but I am getting ahead of myself.)

Jack talked to someone on the freighter called Minkowski. They are coming to get us! Are we finally saved?

In Memoriam 09-22-2008

Let us all take a moment to reflect on the passing of the passengers and crew of Oceanic 815, who perished on this day four years ago.

As well as those we know survived the crash and died, or were killed, after the fact.

As well as those of whose fate we are unsure.

As well as those who were on the island by other means.

As well as those who survived but are, in varying degrees, realizing that their 815 story is not yet complete.

In short, let's all remember
LOST.

90 Days Out
If we were on the island...

Hurley, Desmond, Charlie and Jin came back from their camping adventure. They were all acting really odd and we finally found out why! A helicopter pilot called Naomi parachuted into the jungle! She was hurt in the crash, but says she was sent by Penny Widmore, Desmond's long lost love! We were so excited! She had a satellite phone but something jamming the signal, so Jack said we were all going to hike up to the radio tower to see if that would help.

Then Juliet told us that there was an underwater station, called the Looking Glass, where Ben was intentionally jamming the signal. Desmond and Charlie volunteered to go down and turn off the jamming device.

Juliet also told Jack that the Others were coming in a few days to kidnap the pregnant women! Rousseau brought dynamite from an old ship called The Black Rock and we were going to set up an ambush to blow up the others. But then Karl, an Other whom Sawyer knew from when he was held captive, came in a boat to warn us that the Others were coming that night! So while the rest of us were hiking up to the radio tower, Sayid, Jin and Bernard were going to stay behind to ambush the Others.

It was a long, long hike up to the tower. Some of the other 815'ers go trekking through the jungle all the time, so they were up for the challenge. I don't know how I kept up, it was tiring. When it got dark, we heard two explosions from the beach. But there were supposed to be THREE! What if it didn't work? What if something happened to Jin, Bernard and Sayid? Poor Sun. Poor Rose. I am so tired of being SCARED all the time!

85 Days Out
If we were on the island...

Hurley found a van! A beat up old volkswagon van! Filled with a skeleton and really old DHARMA beer. There are way too many weird things on this island.

So just when we were all feeling better about things, because Kate and Sawyer were back, they're gone again. They took Sayid and Rousseau with them to try to rescue Jack from the Others' encampment. Apparently, the Others have houses with running water and electricity over there. Man, what I would give for a hot shower and a blanket bigger than the Oceanic airplane blankets we've been putting up with.

Claire saw some migratory birds and had a great idea! Since the birds are tagged, someone must be studying them. She suggested we catch one and tie a message to its leg. With help from Sun, Jin and Charlie, they were able to do it. Of course, they just wrote on a normal piece of paper, and we're talking about water birds, so I am not sure how likely it will be that anyone will see the message.

Nikki and Paulo are dead. There was some big mystery surrounding their deaths since there wasn't any sign of injury. At the funeral, Sawyer sprinkled some diamonds on their bodies before they buried them. Okay, that was weird. I mean, wouldn't they be worth a LOT when we finally get off this island?

Kate, Sayid and Jack returned! This time Locke is missing. It seems he chose to go with Ben's group instead of returning to us. They brought one of the Others with them. Apparently, her name is Juliet and she is a fertility doctor (which I guess is good for Sun) and Jack says we can trust her. I am not so sure, yet. I mean she was one of the ones who had Sawyer and Kate trapped in cages!

I overheard Kate and Sayid talking. It seems that while they were looking for Jack, they found another station, where there was all kinds of communication equipment. Only Locke blew it up.

They also said something about a submarine and how Ben promised Jack and Juliet they could go home (Jack operated on Ben and saved his life I think). Only Locke blew that up, too.

(It is probably just as well Locke didn't return. I am pretty sure that a lot of people would have put him on the chopping block for messing up our chances of being rescued.)

But just when everyone thought we were all safe and together, Hurley, Desmond, Charlie and Jin went off on some mysterious "camping" trip. I don't know why these folks all go LOOKING for trouble!

75 Days Out
If we were on the island...

Remember how I said that Michael, Walt, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Sun, Jin, Sayid, Eko, Locke and Desmond are all missing? That means a lot of people were gone, but Sayid, Sun and Jin returned. They haven't said much about what happened while they were gone, but they all seemed pretty shook up.

Then Hurley showed up. He said that Ben and the Others captured them and that it was all part of a plan that Michael was pulling off! He said that it was MICHAEL who killed Libby and Ana-Lucia and let Henry escape! Only his name isn't Henry! It's Ben. Benjamin Linus. I can't even believe it. So Michael made a deal with the Others... they let Walt and Michael go and gave them a boat, in exchange for bringing Kate, Jack, Sawyer and Hurley to them. Hurley said that they put bags over their heads and took Jack, Kate and Sawyer somewhere else, but told him to go back to his camp and warn everyone to stay away.

On the way back to our camp, Hurley found Desmond (he was naked!) and since the hatch blew up, Desmond has been having what he calls "flashes" where he can see flashes of the future!

Then Locke showed up, but for a while he couldn't talk. He made Charlie stand outside a tent and then took off into the jungle. Sayid, Desmond, Nikki and Paulo (two people who suddenly started trying to get into the inner circle - maybe they think because Jack and Kate are missing, they can take their places) went with Locke to look for Eko and find another hatch, with the hopes of communicating with the Others. Instead, they said they found Eko dead, but I overheard Locke say something about the "island" killing him. Maybe they mean the smoke monster!

Finally, Kate and Sawyer have returned. But they came without Jack! They said he is still alive, but haven't told us much about what happened to them, but I sure hope they do soon. We're all feeling worried!

67 Days Out
If we were on the island...

Another eventful few days... it seems like there is always something amazing going on around here. They caught a man and had him locked in the hatch! He said his name was Henry Gale and he was flying in a hot air balloon and crashed on the island. Pretty much EVERYONE tried to interrogate him, but only Ana-Lucia was able to get him to draw a map to his crashed hot-air balloon. Then she, Sayid and Charlie went looking for the hot-air balloon. They found it, and the grave where Henry said he buried his wife... only it was the REAL Henry Gale's body that was there, so we know this guy with the crazy eyes is an OTHER!

Michael came back. Kate and Jack went to meet the others to try to trade Henry for Walt and instead, Michael stumbled out of the jungle. He was pretty shook up.

I heard through the grapevine that Sun is pregnant. I think we all knew before her husband Jin! And Hurley and Libby had been getting pretty serious. Hurley planned a picnic on the beach with her and everything. Poor guy, he had it bad for her.

I say HAD because Libby and Ana-Lucia were shot! Michael was too, but he survived. And Henry Gale got away. At Libby and Ana-Lucia's funeral, Sun saw a boat. For about thirty minutes, we were all excited, until we found out it was Desmond's boat.

Then Michael took Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley to go get Walt back from the Others. I heard Sayid say something about being compromised and then he, Jin and Sun sailed Desmond's boat around to the other side of the island. Then, if that isn't weird enough, Locke went crazy and decided to stop pushing the button. Eko went equally crazy and took some of the left over dynamite and blew up the hatch. Then, a few minutes later, the ground started shaking, the whole sky went violet and there was this mind-numbing noise.

So Michael, Walt, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Sun, Jin, Sayid, Eko, Locke and Desmond are all missing. Ana-Lucia and Libby are dead. Only Charlie, Claire, Rose and Bernard are left at the beach to keep everyone in line. I like the four of them, but all of our "trusted leaders" are gone and I am feeling a little uneasy. I hope they come back soon and start telling us what the HECK is happening on this island!

55 Days Out
If we were on the island...

So MUCH has happened in the last ten days! Kate, then Locke, then Jack all went down into the hatch. There was a crazy English man called Desmond down there. Kate said it seemed as if he and Jack knew each other! And there are supplies down there! Food, soap, a bed, running water, electricity and a washer and dryer (which somehow seem much more modern than anything else)! And a computer, that beeps every 108 minutes until someone enters a code (4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42) which REALLY freaks Hurley out. When Desmond thought the computer was beyond repair, he ran away, leaving us with the computer and the buttons. Who knows where he went off to?

And the people from the raft are back! It seems that some scary dude with a beard was on a little boat and kidnapped Walt! And shot Sawyer! Then blew up the raft! Jin, Michael and Sawyer all made it back to our island, but were kidnapped as well. Only the people who kidnapped them were also survivors of flight 815, in the tail section. There were really scared because many of the people in their camp (including two children) had been kidnapped and it turns out these "Others" had a spy in their camp! Ana-Lucia, this really strong LAPD cop killed the guy, but until they were sure that Michael, Jin and Sawyer were not also spies, they kept them prisoner.

Eventually, they made their way across the island to find our group. These "tailies" (Hurley's name for them) include Ana-Lucia, Mr. Eko (a dark, brooding priest with a dark, brooding history), Libby (a kind and pretty shrink, on whom Hurley's got a crush), Cindy (whom we never met because she disappeared on the journey here - maybe the Others got her, too!), and Bernard! Dear sweet Rose was finally reunited with her husband!

Unfortunately, though, that reunion was overshadowed by yet another death among us. During a terrible rainstorm on the way to our side of the island, Ana-Lucia (who was among many to hear some weird whispers in the jungle) accidentally shot and killed Shannon. Sayid and Shannon had become close and her death hit him very hard.

A couple of days later, Michael locked Jack and Locke in the hatch and took off to try to get Walt back. Sawyer, Locke and Jack went after him, as did Kate, on her own. They ran into some of these Others including the scary dude with the beard. They held Kate captive and told Jack to stand down or they would kill her. It sounds as if there are a lot of them and they are well armed. We are all a little scared.

Then, Eko saw the Virgin Mary statue that Charlie had and went a little psycho. He made Charlie lead him to the plane and do you know what he found on that plane? His BROTHER's body! His brother's plane had crashed on the same island. Too spooky. But he didn't see all that until AFTER he saw the smoke monster. THE SMOKE MONSTER!

You know what is weird though? Nobody ever TALKS about all these crazy things they see. I have to overhear private conversations just to have ANY idea what is going on around here. If I saw any of this crazy crap, I would be telling EVERYONE! Shannon and Sayid saw Walt. Kate saw a horse. Jack saw his dead father. Charlie and Eko saw the smoke monster. Why isn't anyone comparing NOTES!?

If I ever get off this island, and make these notes into a movie, no one would believe it! You never know what is going to happen next on this island!

45 Days Out
If we were on the island...

A kind of whiny science teacher, Arzt, told us that monsoon season is coming and that the raft needs to be launched right away, so there was a concerted effort by many of the survivors to get it finished and on the way. Then Michael got really sick! Jack thinks he was poisoned, but no one knows how. He recovered quickly so Sawyer, Jin and Walt joined him on the raft. We all hope they have enough supplies to get them safely rescued so they can come back for us!

Meanwhile, Jack, Kate, Locke, Hurley and Arzt have gone on a wild goose chase to find "supplies" and the rest of us were supposed to go up to the caves. It seems that Rousseau has heard more whispers and seen black smoke and she thinks "others" are coming for us. I heard something about a hatch and dynamite, but things are so crazy around here, I don't know what to think.

Sayid was leading the rest of us towards the cave when Charlie came running up saying that Rousseau was on the beach and needed him. Then we all heard a scream and ran back to the beach to find Claire with a head wound and her baby missing. Rousseau kidnapped him! Charlie and Sayid ran into the jungle to find the baby.

We've heard that strange scary sound in the jungle again, as well as several explosions. Someone said that Arzt blew himself up because they really DID find dynamite (on an old slave ship called the Black Rock) and used some of it to blow the door off this hatch. I can't WAIT to find out what the HECK is down there!

Sayid and a yet-again-injured Charlie came back with Aaron (that's what Claire has named the baby) safe and sound. Now we just have to wait and see what happens to the people on the raft.

40 Days Out*
If we were on the island...

Michael and Jin, along with a few others, are rebuilding the raft. Michael thought it would be good to have some kind distress signal, but there is no power for it even if Sayid could build it. Then someone remembered that the crazy French woman, who held Sayid hostage, had batteries. Hurley went looking for her after he found one of her papers with the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 written on it over and over again. Charlie, Sayid and Jack all went after him and Hurley somehow managed to come back with a battery!

Sawyer keeps getting headaches and Jack determined he just needs glasses, which were made with Sayid's help. He LOOKS goofy, but at least it doesn't hurt him to read any more!

Then a terrible thing happened! Locke came back from one of his long days missing, with Boone over his shoulder! Boone was hurt really badly and despite Jacks herculean efforts, (including a blood transfusion from his OWN arm!) Boone died. Locke said he fell from a cliff, but Boone kept muttering about a plane and a hatch. He was pretty out of it, but Jack must not believe Locke's story, because after Boone died, he went out looking for Locke.

This death has overshadowed our tiny bit of wonderful news, though. Claire had her baby! He is a darling, tiny, apparently healthy, baby boy, which Kate delivered in the middle of the jungle (Jack was mid-blood transfusion, and couldn't be there to help).

(Note - *Even though I partly disagree with the timeline in Lostpedia, I will write to what is generally accepted as correct there and go with the idea that we've been on the island about 40 days.)

25 Days Out
If we were on the island...

We are now on day 25 of our exile from regular episodes of LOST. If we were really on the island, here is what would have happened in the last ten days:

Claire is BACK! She just wandered out of the jungle, disoriented, but safe. She doesn't remember anything since the crash, so we have no idea what happened to her or where she was. Sawyer, Locke, Jack, Sayid and Kate caught Ethan, but not until after he killed Scott (or was it Steve?). They intended to bring him back and interrogate him, but Charlie found a gun and shot him instead.

Michael started building a raft with found items from the wreckage and bamboo and vines. It looked pretty good, until somebody torched it. Everyone thought it was Jin, since he and Michael have had a very contentious relationship. But then we were all shocked when Sun cried out for the fighting to stop, in ENGLISH! Even Jin was surprised. Then Locke came and said something important: "Why would any one of us block an attempt to get home? We're so intent on pointing the finger at one another that we're ignoring the simple undeniable truth that the problem isn't here, it's there. They've attacked us, sabotaged us, abducted us, murdered us. Maybe it's time we stop blaming us and start worrying about them. We're not the only people on this island and we all know it."

We've all been pretty good at forgetting about what's out there. Monsters, polar bears, the French Woman, other people. Oh, and there is a boar which Sawyer swears is out to get him. He and Kate tracked the boar, but Sawyer didn't kill it. I think there's a big ole softie under that gruff exterior.

: ) P

(Note: This timeline does not completely match the one found on LOSTpedia, but reflects the bulk of the information found in the episodes which seem to take place during this time period.)

Fifteen Days Out
If we were on the island...

We're now on day fifteen of the exile from regular episodes of LOST. If we were REALLY on the island, here's what would have happened in the last five days:

After Sayid tortured Sawyer (all for naught, since he didn't have Shannon's inhalers after all), he left. He told us he was going to map the island, but I really think he just couldn't face us after such cruelty. When he returned, he told us he met up with the French woman, Danielle Rousseau - the one that left the SOS message sixteen years ago! It sounds like the woman is so far out in left field, she's selling hot dogs. Actually, Sayid's not exactly in the ball park either... he said he heard whispers in the jungle!

He stole some weird maps from Rousseau's shelter before he escaped. They are all in French, so he's enlisted Shannon to help translate. I don't know how much work they're getting done, though. They're kind of flirting. He's been out in the jungle checking out the maps and can't seem to make sense of them. Locke gave him a compass, but I overheard him say that the compass doesn't work. He said a minor magnetic anomaly might explain a variance of two or three degrees, but it looked like the compass was off by about 40°!

Hurley, the big guy with a great sense of humor, started taking a census, to take note of everyone that was on the plane. He's funny, that guy, really down to earth.

There's been a VERY strange turn of the tides. Everything is getting washed out to sea. This can't be normal. The tide shifting so suddenly, rising in so short a time. We've had to move camp further up the beach. Things are just plain ODD on this island.

Then something AWFUL happened! Claire and Charlie were kidnapped by this guy Ethan, whom Hurley determined was NOT ON THE PLANE! Locke, Boone, Jack and Kate went looking for them and eventually Kate and Jack found Charlie had been hanged in a tree. He was DEAD. Jack somehow managed to save him, but I don't know how. He's been very quiet. Claire is still missing and we are all afraid of what is out there.

Still, Locke and Boone are gone all day, from sunrise to sundown. They say they are hunting boar, but they never come back with any. That John Locke is an intense guy, but everyone seems to trust him.

There's never a dull day on this island. We'll see what happens in the next few days!

Ten Days Out
If we were on the island...

We're now on day ten of the exile from regular episodes of LOST. Surprisingly, I am handling it better than I thought I would. Thursday, in the late hours of the night, were a little touch-and-go, but over all, manageable.

If we were REALLY on the island, here's what would have happened in the last ten days:

The plane crashed, many perished.

Our defacto leader, Jack Shephard, a doctor from California, took Kate (very pretty) and Charlie (very shady) to look for the cockpit and a transceiver. They found the transceiver, but also found we were more than one thousand miles off course when the plane crashed.

The handsome Iraqi man, Sayid, who seems to be a whiz with anything electrical, thought he could get a stronger signal on a higher altitude. He took Kate, Charlie, and siblings, Boone and Shannon into the jungle. Sawyer tagged along, which was a good thing since he was the one who shot the polar bear (YES, polar bear!) that was chasing them!

They heard a mobius loop distress signal left by a French woman more than sixteen years ago which talks about people dying and needing rescue. It all sounds very spooky.

There've been a few deaths since the initial crash. The pilot of the plane died. Then a girl named Joanna drowned. Then the Marshal from the plane was put out of his misery. That Sawyer is a scary guy, we'll have to watch out for him. We almost lost Jack and Charlie when they got caught in a cave in.

There have been a lot of nasty fights: Jin, the angry Korean man, attacked Michael out of the blue! That was really odd. Sawyer beat Boone up. Jack and Sayid tortured Sawyer.

A lot has transpired in the last ten days... we'll see what happens next!

A LIST
of Lists

We're now three days out from the best three hours ever on television. Yeah, I know some people think Roots was better. I wasn't old enough to appreciate it back then.

I'm rewatching LOST from the very beginning now... and dragging my no-longer-reluctant love along with me on the ride this time. It is kind of nice to watch it KNOWING what I know, as well as through brand new eyes at the same time.

So far, we've only watched the two hours of the pilot. Nothing particularly revealing thus far. Hairstyles are a bit different, Sayid's accent is a bit odd, and it is funny to watch Yunjin Kim's Sun KNOWING that she speaks English. I wonder if Yunjin knew her character spoke English then, because she really pulls off the confused look when anyone other than Jin is speaking.

The only other even mild revelation is that Jorge Garcia's Hurley HAS lost quite a BIT of weight. Yes, he is still very big, but in the pilot, he is considerably bigger.

Ah the lists... we have Jacob's list, Bea Klugh's list, Ben's List, and Michael's List, and now, this list of lists. So much to ponder. Good thing we have six months left to do so (not).

BEST
EPISODE
EVER!

Well the final three hours did NOT disappoint!

To quote a friend:
"I don’t care what you know -
I don’t care what you think -
I don’t care what you think you might know -
I don’t care what you know you might think…
That was easily two of the best produced, acted, written, directed, filmed - hours of TV ever presented."

My only amendment to that statement is that I would include the first hour and make it THREE of the best produced, acted, written, directed, filmed - hours of TV ever presented EVER.

What were the best questions answered?
What new questions are you asking?
Can we actually wait seven months?

There's No Place Like Home, Parts 1, 2 and 3

The finale is only a day away... then it is seven LONG months until we get our next LOST fix. That's more than 200 days. Those are a lot of days to take one day at a time! ACK!

ABC is going to show the first hour of the season finale at 8pm, which will include additional footage of the news conference scene. Immediately following, will be the final two hours. Hopefully, we will get more answers than we do new questions!

How will we survive the seven intervening months? Weekly LAA meetings will be harder to come by while the show is off the air. Stop on by here and discuss theories and get your fix!

Seems like TPTB over at the island decided to move it back - at least for the time being. Everyone is welcome to post here now, or if they move the island again.

What do you do when someone moves the island and doesn't tell you?

Create your own island, that's what!

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip...

"My dear guests, I am Mr. Linus, your host. Welcome to the Island."

"I'm sorry, Keamy, the tribe has spoken."

Okay, enough of the pathetic island jokes. Same rules as the last place, okay?
