We were almost to the radio tower, when Ben and Alex showed up! They were just standing there waiting for us. That guy is so creepy. He and Jack had a conversation, but I couldn't hear it properly. I think Ben said something about how we shouldn't call Naomi's people. Is he CRAZY? We want to get off the island!
Then Ben and Jack disappeared behind some rocks and a few minutes later, Jack brought bloody Ben back out and asked Rousseau to tie him up. It is then that Rousseau was finally reunited with her long lost daughter Alex! Not that they had time to enjoy the reunion.
We finally got to the radio tower and the green light on Naomi's satellite phone came on! She told Claire that her "rock star boyfriend" got us all rescued! Unfortunately, all the phone picked up was Rousseau's old distress call, so a few people went into the radio tower to turn off her signal. Just as Naomi was about to make a connection, a flying dagger pierced her back! Locke just killed her! (Actually, it turns out that though we thought she was dead, she was only wounded, but I am getting ahead of myself.)
Jack talked to someone on the freighter called Minkowski. They are coming to get us! Are we finally saved?

Okay so I guess I didn't scroll up far enough. I didn't realize there was an unanswered trivia question.
Ben's dad had a Swan logo on his shirt...which never made sense to me. I wish that Locke would have been with Saywer, Hurley, and Jin when they found the van. I'm not 'pro-Locke' but I have a feeling that if Locke would have been with them we would have found out more. Like... was Ben's dad the one who would have cleaned up Radzinki's brains after he shot himself??? The people in the Swan were supposed to unaware that they were being watched and were supposed to believe that they would 'get sick' if they left the hatch. So wouldn't having a janitor pushing a garbage can and whistling the theme to Sanford and Sons kinda ruin that? There's something more to that... but thats JMO.
Anyhow.
I like the idea of Penny being Annie. Actually what I like even more is the idea that Ben doesn't know that Penny is Annie, he kills Penny (not that I want Penny dead... she and Des make me cry....its worse than the dang Notebook), and THEN is :insert dramatic build up music here: informed that she is Annie. ben then ponders all the crappy stuff he's done and 'changes sides'.
Yep... I'm putting that one in te book with the two Smokies. I like that one. :)
Six degrees of Lost. Okay we used to try and play a game like that w/ actors when we went on trips for cheerleading comps in high school. Yea, I'm a COMPLETE movie junkie but I'm one of those that goes "OHHH YEA!!!!!". So I wasn't ever really good at that game.
I may be wrong about Ben's dad logo, but I remember thinking that when I was watching the epi a couple weekends ago. So, someone tell me if I'm right or wrong.
You're right, Julie. I looked it up after I guessed.
You're next for trivia!
: ) P
Trivia:
The numbers seem to be (literally) following Hurley even after he gets back from the island. What 'number' is associated with the news channel following Hurley's car chase, and watched by Jack?
Was it channel 4? (Total guess!)
: ) P
Nope, I checked. It was not channel 4!
Next guess?
: ) P
Channel 8 I think. I remember it being odd. Here in Detroit the news channels are 2,4,7 and 62.8 was odd to me.
DocH, you are correct, I didn't add it to my favs. Got my buck on Friday only in my blind for 10 mins.
I don't remember for sure from my LA days, but I don't think channel 8 is actually news there.
I've lived in a number of places and there is no rhyme or reason to the local station numbers from what I can tell. We have a channel 8 news here, though.
: ) P
You are correct! It is channel 8.
The channels are 2,4,5,and 7 here in Nashville.
Next question.
Oh, and I just caught Heroes from last week over the weekend. Good stuff!
It's Hammer's turn! Good job.
(Please note that I did NOT say, Hammer Time, despite the fact that I was overly compelled to do so! LOL)
: ) P
LOL, Hammertime has been an acceptable phrase uttered at me since the late 80's.
Off the wall trivia: Which talk show was the Drive Shaft song "You All Everybody" inspired by?
Going back to Hammer Time. It's kind of cute that my daughter's softball team sings that song and does an MC Hammer dance when she's up to bat. I used to dance to that stuff at clubs 20 years ago and here they are still using it. LOL.
Oh, DocH. Tell more about the Fringe whisper you found.
"You all everybody," came from a talk show, if I remember correctly. I think it was part of the commentary on that episode.
Oprah? Phil Donahue? Jenny Jones? Don't know which one, though. Sorry.
: ) P
PJ mentioned it with one of her guesses. I remember it being Donahue for some reason.
Yep, Donahue. There was a woman who was spouting off at the guest and rambled off a non-sensical sentence that became a running joke. Which eventually became the lyrics.
L4E, you were more precise with your answer, so you take the question.
You all everybody!
: ) P
Boy did I miss alot of info in a couple days. Thanks for the info on Buddhism and karma/fate, MK. Thanks for lesson on privacy and internet stalking DocH, and not finding me. I am guessing that Radzinksy shot himself after the purge Julie, or else Roger, the workman, would have cleaned it up.:)
Are channels here are 3-NBC, 4-CBS, 5-ABC and 8-FOX.
The episode airing tonight on Sci-Fi at 9:00, opposite Heores, is Locke-centric. The title is Deus Ex Machina. What does it mean?
Turns out Channel 8 isn't odd LOL, just odd for my area. At any rate, that's why I remembered it.
"You all, everybody
Acting like you're stupid people
Wearing your 'spensive clothes..."
(lat. IPA: [ˈdeːus eks ˈmaːkʰina], literally "god from a/the machine"
Right on Hammer.
I hope it's okay that I used the correct def. instead of what I would have said....machine of god. I didn't cheat...really.
LOL Hammer. I know you didn't cheat!
Anyway, it's HammerTime again!
: ) P
Okay then. This should be easy. What gymnast did Mikhail name his cat after? Hint, the name is important to Sayid.
Nadia - Nadia Comenici (sp?)
: ) P
Okay, here's my question...
We've seen Kate's horse, and another horse outside Mikhail's station. We've seen a cow with a bell several times. What other farm animal(s) have we seen?
: ) P
I think they had chickens ( eggtown ). Not sure how many others there are.
Well, now see, I was looking for chickens, but I knew that you all everybody were smart enough to come up with many others, which is why I put animal(S) in the question!
So L4E answered first, but DocH answered more thoroughly. Whichever comes here first gets to ask the next question!
: ) P
Ooh good question, DocH! I have to think about that one for a bit. I know some of the characters he HAS encountered, so it will be process of elimination!
: ) P
From that list DocH, he has not met Jack or Saywer.
I know that Mikhail has never met Jack....I'm not sure about Sawyer though.....
Sorry L4E! Brilliant minds think alike.
GMTA
I don't think he ever met Sun either.
What famous novel is Deux Ex Machina a chapter in? (HINT: The book has been seen in LOST)
I am in a quandry this evening. LOST, Heroes, Baseball playoffs, and MNF with the Browns. What to watch?
I had a REALLY enthusiastic English teacher. We learned that Deus Ex Machina was the term given in ancient Greek Theatre when a "god" was lowered by crane onto the stage.
I didn't read it, but I do remember her telling us it was in the title in one of the chapters that the Lit 12 class studied.
Comparing the titles I remember from that class (which I didn't take) to the titles that have been used in LOST, it has to be either The Brothers Karamazov or Watership Down. I'll hazard a guess at Watership Down.
: ) P
Good guess PJ.:)
Okay, sticking with the literary theme:
A number of episode titles have been novel titles (A Tale of Two Cities, Through the Looking Glass). There are three more (that I know of) - name one.
: ) P
Tricia Tanaka is Dead....JK...:)
Catch 22, I let whoever gets the next one or two cover the trivia question. I'm on my way out the door till late tonight.
Funny, Hammer!
Circus Mom is right, but there are still two more (at least) to guess. Anyone? Anyone?
: ) P
Well, I'm going to say the first is:
Stranger in a strange land. I had to read that in a college lit class. (Strange professor!)
Exodus, while not a novel.. is a 'book' which is obvious.
Left Behind, is less obvoius and may have not been realized. But its a highly addictive set of Christian novels released around 1999.
Okay someone help:
I'm watching Fringe and heard Ababababaabanon (lol) say something about someone being fed stimulants, kept awake a year, and forced to watch horrific images... but I didn't hear the preceeding or following. I was helping a monkey jump back into his sleeping bag for the 8,934.5th time.
Sounds a little...err.. a lot like Room 23.
Sorry, Julie, I can't help you. I can't understand a third of what Lance Reddick says. Not sure if he is mumbling, or just speaks in a low tone.
I noticed several LOST similarities in Fringe tonight:
- a "white rabbit" that walks away especially to be chased (Christian / John)
- electro-magnetic anomalies
- people who can appear and disappear at will (whispers / John)
I am going to hang in there, but I am still not sold on the show. I love the characters, but between the gore, Lance Reddick's mumbling and the hard-to-connect stories, I am just, well, not that into it.
Did anyone notice the bald no-aging guy get out of the elevator before magnatron-man got on? Not POSITIVE it was our Fringe version of Captain Eyeliner, but I think so.
: ) P
The LOST similarities are growing. Not only did that (Room 23 analogy) hit me hard. But so did the appearances of her dead partner. I wonder if they are hinting that the apparitions on LOST are also left over conscious energy trying to take up space in someone elses head???
Funny,
The similarity that got me the most was when the electric man said he was a webelow, just like John Lock said on the island. This is the only two times I have ever heard this term used for boyscouts.
circus mom, from wikipedia:
"The British Cubbing program used elements of Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book series, with the Cubmaster taking the role of Akela and the assistant Cubmaster the role of Baloo. The American program also syncretized American Indian elements, with all Cub Scouts belonging to the Webelos tribe, symbolized by the Arrow of Light and led by Akela. Webelos was also an acronym meaning Wolf, Bear, Lion, Scout. It has since come to mean "WE'll BE LOyal Scouts". The initial rank structure was Wolf, Bear and Lion, with ages of 9, 10 and 11. Dens of six to eight Cubs were entirely led by a Boy Scout holding the position of den chief."
Circus Mom said: The similarity that got me the most was when the electric man said he was a webelow, just like John Lock said on the island.
YES! I knew there was another correlation, but I couldn't remember what it was. Next episode, I am taking notes! LOL
Circus Mom, you were the first to get the trivia and Julie, you got several more (I didn't think of Exodus, but you are right about it being a book!). I also missed "Left Behind." The other one I thought of was "The Shape of Things to Come."
Anyway, Julie or CM, first to return gets to ask a trivia question!
: ) P
What kind of car did Hurley have, and for bonus points, where were he and his dad supposed to go on their first road trip.
I went on Lostpedia to get a question and noticed that the basic information on Hurley is quite inacurate. Irritating.
Not sure, but I am going to go with Camero (sp?) and Grand Canyon.
: ) P
OK, PJ, you're up.
Keeping with the transportation theme (can you tell I find it easier to come up with questions that somehow relate to prior questions?):
Other than the various parts of 815 (whether they are the 777 or the L-1011), we have seen OTHER airplanes featured in LOST:
The faux plane in the Sunda Trench is one. The drug plane is another.
At least one other plane has been featured prominently (and a number NOT so prominently), name one.
: ) P
Frank ran a airline and had a toy plane he droped in the fish tank. Two helos on the freighter. Rescue plane with cargo door. Planes that Jack tries to get back to the island on. Ben is having the others build a runway. Plane or helo that Sayid meets Kate's father on.
I know I am missong some.
Doc gets the question, I think he came up with the most inportant plane that I would have forgotten.
All good answers! I also thought of the plane that Walt had (made from palm leaves, perhaps?) as well as the Oceanic mobile that was hanging in the "nursery" where Ethan was keeping Claire.
You're up, DocH!
: ) P
I can think of one, PJ's favorite "undead"...Charlie saved her from a mugging...don't remember the name of the episode though.
I believe Nadia was also buying a house for which Locke was (strangely) the inspector.
: ) P
LOL. Thanks, DocH! Generally, when more than one person answers, I leave it to the first person to return to the blog to post a new question. (This time, I guess that is me!) LOL.
Okay, a question about parents of O6'ers... All of our adult O6'ers have had Daddy issues except one (and that character MAY have had Daddy issues we haven't even SEEN yet) - name the character.
: ) P
Sayid is the only one who hasn't had any "Daddy Issues" that I know of.....
You got it, Miss Kim!
Your turn.
: ) P
Yay for great trivia questions.
WHAT A DAY.... it's 10pm and Im just now getting to check in for the first time today.
Alrighty. A fill in the blanks type question.
Mikhail says that Sayid was not on "the list" because he was_____________ and ________________________.
Ooh I like your question, Miss Kim. I have no idea what the answer is, but I like it! LOL
Hi Julie welcome back!
: ) P
DocH said: I'll add that Aaron, as an OA6'er, hasn't really had a 'Daddy Issue' either. Maybe in a decade or two.
Ah yes, that is why I said "adult" O6'er. LOL.
But I am sure he will have SOME kind of daddy issue - between no daddy, and Jack, there WILL be issues! LOL.
: ) P
Oh I disagree. I think that an 'absent' daddy is a BIG daddy issue!
Julie said: I think that an 'absent' daddy is a BIG daddy issue!
Oh I agree, Julie. But at the age of two or three, he doesn't know enough to HAVE issues yet! I had no daddy, and didn't realize that wasn't "normal" until I was at school with all the other kids who DID have daddies! I thought the Partridge Family was normal and the Brady Bunch was weird.
: ) P
I would have to agree with Julie. Aaron definitely has a Daddy issue, even at age 2 or 3. JMO.
Not really sure the "current" time was 2004 at the end of season 4. When I watched the show last season, I saw the events on the island as flashbacks, but we don't ALL see things the same way.:) Aaron has daddy issues, again JUST MY OPINION.
I guess I am trying to figure out what you mean by daddy issues. At age three, we've seen Aaron hug Kate and walk into the room behind a giant shark (stuffed Ezra perhaps?). While I agree that the kid is bound to HAVE daddy issues, I don't understand what you consider his "current" daddy issues to be?
Perhaps it is the definition of the term that has us misunderstanding each other. To me, "daddy issues" would be when someone has emotional or physical ailment directly resulting from abuse, neglect or maltreatment from the father. Jack was emotionally abused by his alcoholic father. Hurley was abandoned by his father and emotional has issues. The man Kate thought was her biological father, and her savior, was not. The man she thought was her abusive step-father WAS her biological father and she killed him (BIG daddy issues). Sawyer watched his father kill his mother and take his own life. Locke has emotional AND physical (lack of kidney) issues. *THOSE* are "daddy issues" to me.
A three-year old confused by Jack the pseudo-daddy yelling drunkenly at mommy doesn't qualify the same to me.
That *isn't* to say that a three-year-old CANNOT have daddy issues (especially your wunderkind, Julie!). I am just not sure that I put Aaron in the same category (yet).
If your definition of "daddy issues" is different, please share! I want to understand.
: ) P
Not having a father is a daddy issue to me, but I am old-fashioned.
Another one would be if a 2-3 year-old's "adopted" mother is living with a stoned and drunken doctor, who he may look to as a father figure, shows up one night yelling at his "adopted" mother, then is kicked out of the house.
So I guess, FOR ME, a daddy issue doesn't necessarily have to be from the actual dad, but from one that is perceived to be (father figure).
PJ: "A three-year old confused by Jack the pseudo-daddy yelling drunkenly at mommy doesn't qualify the same to me."
I guess we disagree then.:) To me, that's when "daddy issues" first begin.
Grown up "Daddy Issues" sometimes grow from childhood "Daddy Issues". I think you guys are more on the same page than not. Sometimes this whole typing thing allows things to get lost in translation....or something like that.....
Daddy issues are also defined by the reaction to the issue. My birth father left when I was a infant. My "daddy" is the man who raised me. My birth father called for the first time when I was 47. Didn't faze me. I have friends in similar situations who are tramitized by the slightest contact or mention of their father.
Aaron's daddy issues will be/are about Charlie and or Jack.
That was me.
I think Miss Kim is right - typing doesn't fully allow us to express ourselves and / or understand each other.
The other part of my opinion that Aaron doesn't yet have issues is that I haven't SEEN HIM have issues. We haven't seen him having a tantrum, or withdrawing, choosing elective mutism, biting, screaming, hitting, inconsolable, desperate or depressed.
This has been an interesting conversation as an offshoot of a trivia question!
Which reminds me, Miss Kim, no one got your last one... could you please give us the answer and ask a new one?
: ) P
RE: Miss Kim's question. There were several people Mikhail had reasons for not being on the list. Scared and angrey were a couple reasons, but I don't remember who they were attributed to.
Sayid was weak and frightened. When Mikhail stated this, he was speaking to more than one person. He looked at each person and seemingly directed their "flaw" in their direction when doing so. In addition to Sayid, who else was present?
Well I think that was when Sayid, Locke and Kate infiltrated the cabin. So I am going to say, Locke, Kate and Bea Klugh - but it is a total guess.
: ) P
Has anyone seen The Eleventh Hour? The commercials look very Fringe-ish, but I wondered if anyone had seen it to compare it?
: ) P
DocH, where are you blogging about Fringe? I am not finding you on the site you are pushing. I want to hear more about the Fringe whisper.
Kate and Locke yes. Bea Klugh no. Two outta three ain't bad.....the third person was Rousseau. OK PJ--you're up.
Next question:
Who was the last character to speak in the Season 4 finale? Bonus points for what that character said!
: ) P
Too easy! Ben said something to the effect of "You all have to go back and you have to bring John too."
Not an exact quote.
DocH, thanks. I still don't see where anyone has figured out the whisper and it's significance. But on my own, I think it's a hint that the "dead" folks on Lost are in the same "what ever" as the "dead" dude on Fringe.
Yeah, it was pretty easy.
Your turn, Hammer!
: ) P
A bit tougher...two different character used this phrase "running like the devil's chasing you".
Locke said it to Ana Lucia. Who else said it and to whom?
Good one, Hammer. I remember noticing that phrase was used more than once. I don't recall off the top of my head, but I am going to think on it a bit!
: ) P
Okay, I have had this at the back of my brain since I first read the question... I came up with several possibilities.
I seem to remember Juliet bursting out of the jungle and bumping into Rose and Bernard.
I remember when Nikki burst out of the jungle and running into Sawyer and Hurley.
Also, I think Hurley was running for exercise with Libby, but I am not sure if anyone likened him to running from the devil.
I am going to go with the Nikki scenario as my guess.
Now I am off to Lostpedia to check if I am right! LOL
: ) P
Nope! None of my guesses were right! But I do feel better now that I know the correct answer. LOL
Good one, Hammer.
: ) P
Did Hurley say it to Desmond?
Did Desmond say it to Jack when they were running in the stadium and Jack hurt his ankle?
Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding! We HAVE a WINNER! Miss Kim is right! Your turn!
: ) P
Now that I hear the answer it seems so obvious.
Ok, I've been keeping up and reading these through the summer and fall (hard to do with a two year old and a newborn) and just want to say, great stuff guys...I'm so excited for the new season, keep all the good theories coming!!
LINS on the LostBlog
Hey Lins! Beautiful baby... glad you're still stopping in.
: ) P
"Don't tell me what I can't do!" is a commonly spoken phrase. Locke has said it the most.....Who else has said it and what were the circumstances?
Hi Lins. Nice to see you. Beautiful baby! Congrats.
We'll, Jack certainly said it, and I think at least one other person. I can't remember the circumstances.
Yes, Jack said it, at the hospital I think, but I don't remember the details either!
Did Claire say it, too?
: ) P
Yup. Jack has said it Sun, Desmond, and Locke. Clare has said it to Jack. Eko, Charlie, and Ben have also said it. CM or PJ--you're up.
LOL, DocH!
Here's my question: which of the Oceanic Survivors celebrated a birthday on the island? (Aaron is a gimme, so he doesn't count.)
: ) P
one is easy. It was Claire. Locke said happy birthday when he gave her the crib and said it was good luck to have their birthdays close together.
What song does Hurley sing toAaron in a attempt to calm him?
Been MIA for awhile. Nice to catch up. Good question CM. I have no idea, was it "Row Your Boat". My second guess would be " Leaving on a Jet Plane." :)
I see DocH is still teasing us with the "I know something you don't know".
I have to say, though, that I now view the show as island time being a FB. Meaning that the story we saw after the rescue in Season 4 is the present, not "FF-world"
Perhaps Hurley should have copied the sailors in Jaws and sang "Show me the way to go Home."
OK, I realized that what I am doing tonight sounds so crazy I need to mention it. I am off to volunteer as a bartender at the local Moose Lodge (I am a member) for a party consisting of 200 bikers in haloween costumes. I'm almost afraid to bring a camera.
Good question about Hurley's singing. I am going to have to think on that a while. I feel like it was a really unlikely lullaby!
DocH, I feel your pain. Surely, there are spoils-allowed zones where you can discuss what you know?! I wish I could help you, but I REALLY want to stay spoiler-free. I hope you understand!
Julie? We haven't seen you in a LONG time! Everything okay? We've all been mildly MIA, but it has been more than two weeks since you've checked in!
FYI, there is a new LOST promo on the abc website. I couldn't get it to play last night, but I plan to try again today.
: ) P
New post is up!
: ) P
Wow, I can see Hurley singing and just can't remember what song...that's a good one. I remember it was something crazy for a lullaby though!
Thanks Pj and Miss Kim...she's a good little baby, a great TV watcher!! :) Only 44 days to go!!
