New Promo

Just when we were finally starting to get LOST out of our system, ABC released a new promo. Enjoy:

It requires a lot of views to take everything in, so don't worry about seeing "too much" the first time around. But since it is released by ABC, I consider it to be spoiler-free.

There is another version, which includes the actors' voices. The promo is much better. Instead of having to sit through the inane Hallowe'en costume clip, just put your mouse over the center of the frame and then click on the white arrow which points to the right.

UPDATE (Edited 11/7/08): The promo below now has a different 30 second promo, followed by the inane Hallowe'en clip. The FF arrows are gone, as apparently is the "old" promo.

From the last thread, Circus Mom's question was:

What song does Hurley sing to Aaron in a attempt to calm him?

Are we OK to discuss the promo here? I am guessing so but I'll wait to verify.

PJSander said...

I think we should, CM. It is released by ABC and I would imagine that D&C had a hand in editing it.

Is anyone AGAINST discussing the promo here?

: ) P

Not me! Not me! Not me! Not me! Go for it!

It's all good with me. I remember D and C stating that ABC runs the promos on their own. I cant remember exactly but I think ABC ran something last year that D and C disagreed with.

Discussion of Promo!!!

OK, So Jack says "If I don't go back everyone else we left behind will die too." Is he refering to anyone else besides Locke/Bentham? I feel like he is.

PJSander said...

You're right, L4E. D&C did say that ABC puts out the promos. However, since the show is not yet airing, I think that ABC might not have access to the footage. So there is a strong chance that D&C are either editing the promos themselves or only releasing clips FOR the promos that they deem acceptable.

I need to watch a few more times before I can participate in a discussion though *G*.

The way I took that clip was that Jack was cleaning up (shaved and showered) while talking to Ben. It seemed like he was maybe answering Ben's questions...like, "What else did he tell you." I seems like that was Jack's answer to that question. Everyone on the island would die if Jack(and the rest of the O6) didn't go back.

PJSander said...

Okay, I have been thinking about CM's question - because I really think I can pull this off. I remember that the song was VERY un-lullaby-like. Something like "Celebrate" or "I Feel Good" or "Tutti Frutti."

I am going to go with "I Feel Good" because I can sort of hear Jorge Garcia singing that in my head.

How'd I do?

: ) P

Anonymous said...

Good job PJ. It was I Feel Good.

On the island ("real" time, no flashes) during Season 4, three couples kiss. Name two.

I had 2 out of 3 but I chcked before listing and I won't list my correct two here.

I finally got around to watching 10/21's episode of Fringe. Did anyone else catch that the lab tech who was working with Dr. Estabrook was called Elizabeth Sarnoff? (Elizabeth Sarnoff is one of the producers on LOST.)

I wonder how many other things like that have happened that I have missed!?

SPOILER ALERT
Has anyone mentioned that the 2 hour premiere of LOST is being reported to start on 21 Jan 2009. I've read it in three places now. That's a Wednesday folks. And Only 72 days from now. I don't know if they are going to rerun last season during the holidays, or if the 1st hour (of the 2) is going to be a recap episode. Still - woohoo!

--DocH--

Anonymous said...

Oh, and if it goes into the last slot of primetime, as suspected with the current schedule, it replaces "Dirty Sexy Money", follows "Private Practice", competes with "CSI:NY" on CBS and destroys "Law & Order" on NBC.

--DocH--

Anonymous said...

More Data... LOST will fill the middle hour slot of Private Practice on Weds. Practice slips back an hour. That puts it up against "Criminal Minds" on CBS and "Life" on NBC. Not sure what Fox will have on by Jan. LOST should be just after the IDOL results show tho... hope that sucker doesn't run long... not that it matters.

--DocH--

PJSander said...

Thanks for the info, DocH. The ABC website still says "early January 2009." However, it does say "three-hour event" and "two hour season premiere." I am guessing we'll see a recap AND two hours of new material!

I hope you're right on the January 21st, date. That means we are more than two thirds of the way through our wait. (And yes, I double checked my math!)

YAY!

: ) P

Anonymous said...

The front page at Lostpedia has an article based on a Variety.Com story, which I read too. They say 21 Jan 09.
Two hours - first hour recap, second hour new.

--DocH--

lost4ever said...

Right on PJ. From the many places I have seen, LOST will be a three-hour event on Jan. 21. 1 hour clip show, then 2 back-to-back episodes. Good work on the math also.:)

PJSander said...

I am just really happy that LOST is back to Wednesdays. My week was all messed up waiting until Thursdays last season! LOL

Julie said...

HEY GUYS!!!
So sorry! I have been soooo crazy with work. But everything has calmed down some now.
SO, anyone want to catch me up so that I dont have to read for 3 days?

PJSander said...

Welcome back, Julie! We haven't discussed all that much, you'll get through it fairly quickly!

Circus Mom, no one else has attempted to answer the kissing question - so share your answer and then ask a question!

Wednesday night LOST instead of Thursday night is making me pretty happy. It just fits into my schedule a little bit better..... thanks ABC!

Jack and Juliette
Sawyer and Kate

The one I missed was
Sun and Jin

What song is Juliette playing while preparing for the book club in "A Tale of Two Cities"?

Julie said...

She's playing "Downtown"
If I remember correctly. I dont want to look it up so tell me if I'm wrong.

Okay, maybe not the right forum but is anyone going to see Twilight next weekend?

Anonymous said...

Downtown is correct.

I think we are good at discussing most anything interesting in the off season. At least I'm good.

Circus Dork wants to go and see Twilight on opening night with her friends. I will wait untill the crowds die down if I'm not the Chaperone. I had been trying to get her to read more and forced her to read Twilight during the summer after I read it. She has since read all four book, several times each (up to 7). I had to take her to the book store and coax her to try some other books but she now reads more than watching TV.

Hurray for Harry Potter and Edmond.

Anonymous said...

I almost forgot. Circus Dork and I were watching our DVD's of "Dead Like Me" and Harold Perrineau was playing a Yogo instructor who died. Just before he turned to walk into the light he said "Namaste" twice. Weird.

Julie said...

Trivia:
How did Bernard meet Rose?

Yea, I bought advance tickets to Twilight here in Brentwood. Unfortunately, as I've said before, my friends and I differ A LOT so I'm going alone. Which is cool. I'd rather go along than watch it with someone who (for lack of a better term) doesnt 'get it'.
I just bought Twilight last weekend and have read so fast that I'm already on Eclipse. I found New Moon absolutely heart wrenching. So, I'm looking forward to Eclipse. :)
I'd love to know what everyone thinks of it after seeing it.
Maybe we (someone) should start a Twilight blog. I'd love to discuss the books in detail.

Speaking of Lost, IM LOVING the saturation of commercials. I have a friend that is a local DJ and attended the CMAs this week with him. A friend was texting me saying "okay its cool that your there, but your missing all the Lost commericals!!!" LOL

Rose wastuck in the snow and Bernard helped push her out. He fell in the snow in the process. They almost parted and then Rose asked Bernard if he wanted to get a cup of coffee.

What song does Sawyer sing while in the cannoe?

Got my dossier from DI. I am recommended to be a radio operator in the communications dept.

Also, it seems the financial crisis that hit America has effected the DI and they have decided to scrap the plans. :)

Wait for you email.

Hammer said...

Here's the email:

Namaste.

I am pleased to announce that registered recruits can now log in and download your personalized Volunteer Assessment Dossier outlining your full test results as well as your position within the Dharma Initiative.

I want to personally congratulate you on behalf of everyone at the Dharma Initiative for your hard work and diligence during our testing process.

We hope that you are happy with your results. We certainly are. The tests were extremely challenging and the aptitude and excellence displayed far exceeded our expectations.

Now that you are in possession of your results I am sure you are asking the obvious question: what's next?

Our plan was that together we would commence a glorious adventure: the revival of the Dharma Initiative using the myriad talents of all our amazing new recruits. We imagined not just fulfilling long abandoned goals but taking the Dharma Initiative to a new level of greatness as an organization promoting the peaceful social and technological advancement of all humankind.

Then the financial crisis struck.

Sadly, our benefactors were not immune to this crisis. In fact, unconfirmed reports suggest that much of the money designated for the work of the new Dharma Initiative was tied up in highly leveraged mortgage derivatives. This, however, cannot be confirmed because, I am sorry to report, the principals representing the benefactors - my employers - have gone missing. Based on bills still coming into our office we believe they are somewhere in South America.

This stunning reversal of fortune has forced us to abandon our ambitious plans. In fact, absent this funding, the Dharma Initiative was forced to make the only sensible decision we had available: we sold the Dharma Initiative to the television show LOST.

While this might strike some of you as a shock, the reason for this was not simply that they were the only bidder. As the only remaining Dharma Initiative employee who had not fled the country, I felt that at the very least the show would be able to keep the spirit of the Dharma Initiative alive and in the public consciousness until such time as a reversal of the reversal of our economic fortunes occurs.

It is with a heavy heart that I must bid you farewell. Despite my fervent commitment to the mission of the Dharma Initiative, the realities of a broken marriage, heavy casino debt and some unfounded police charges have required that I change my present circumstances. It is with great excitement that I can inform you of my pending senior sales management job at a large multi-brand auto dealership in Dubai. I have enjoyed our brief association more than I can ever express, and if you are ever in the Middle East and need a car, please e-mail me for a special "Dharma rate".

In the meantime, you will hear shortly from LOST showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. They will explain to you their future plans for the Dharma Initiative and how these plans might affect you.

Thank you again, personally, for your unflagging commitment and support. I hope our paths will one day cross again. In the meantime may the spirit of the island guide you.

Namaste.

I finally got to look at my DI results:

Well for my "original" log in - where I used cheats on two of the tests (AFTER I had done them without!) I was assigned as Research Assistant for the Human Interaction Analysis Program.

For the second log in - where I did all the tests without cheating, I was made a COOK! I got zeros on most of the tests for some reason. Maybe they knew it was a bogus log in.

Interesting thoughts, DocH. I will think on that.

Apparently, in the new LOST promo, there are a couple of "flashes" with some kind of "hint" in them. I haven't seen them, but according to TVGuide, there is something about Ajira Airways. I found this:
http://www.ajiraairways.com/

which shows that their flights start on 01/21/2009. Interesting...

So.. my friend Paul and I braved the teenage hordes to see Twilight on Friday.
1 1/2 hours in line WITH pre-purchased tickets.. we find ourselves in the SECOND row just in enough time to see a NEW Lost promo!!!
All the teenie boppers were screaming "team Jacob" "Team Edward" so I couldnt hear a dang thing that was being said. However! It did have a LOT of naked Sawyer. Dirty, Sweaty, Naked Sawyer. SO.. whatever that is, I'm all about it. :)
I'm going to see it again this weekend so HOPEFULLY I'll be able to tell y'all what was said.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

What were our friends on the island doing on Thanksgiving?

Not quite a trivia question. I don't know the answer myself but it might be fun to try and figure it out.

Holiday Humor:
Bad Robots - D & C are giving-up on the Recruiting Initiative now too. They're handing it over to the ABC sit-com folks. They are going to call it the "Dharma and Greg" Initiative... but only want no-nonsense lawyers and spacey earth-bunnies to apply for the open positions - "Not In San Francisco."

Julie said...

So..... do we think that they just gave up on the ARG? I mean, I guess its obvious... but still. It had -some- potential, right?
To bad...

Miss Kim said...

Happy belated Thanksgiving y'all. Circus Mom: I think that the losties are hanging up Christmas lights and eating leftovers. I'm not sure that the "fat lady has sung" on the Dharma thing. Dossiers were originally supposed to be released 12/15. Perhaps the early release and this financial crisis nonsence is part of a bigger plan. (Golly, I am such a "glass is half full kind of a girl!!!!!)

PJSander said...

Miss Kim said: Perhaps the early release and this financial crisis nonsence is part of a bigger plan.

I agree. D&C don't do anything "by chance" and the ARG, in the grand scheme of things, doesn't cost enough to warrant the "financial crisis" to make a difference. I expect that the economy tanking may have just been a great realistic excuse for DI to "sell out" to ABC.

To answer the "not really" a trivia question, as I recall the LOSTies didn't acknowledge Thanksgiving, but I think in the Nikki & Paulo flashback, Nikki mentioned that no one was doing anything about it.

Back to the "real" trivia question, which got lost... Circus Mom asked:
What song does Sawyer sing while in the cannoe?

Love the Dharma and Greg reference, DocH!

PJSander said...

Okay, CM, I think it's time to give us the answer and ask a new question, please!

The LOST promos are getting more frequent (or maybe I am just watching more ABC shows), but haven't, in my opinion, revealed anything new. Just *50* more days until Season Five!

: ) P

PJSander said...

Has anyone watched the "new content" that D&C gave the DI recruits today? One of the videos was NOT new content, but the other two were GREAT. The third was a "sneak peak" at Season 5, which I considered NOT watching. It wasn't spoilerish really, just hinting at what's to come (and certainly NOT anything I wasn't already suspecting would HAVE to happen).

: ) P

Anonymous said...

Saywer sand "Show Me The Way To Go Home" a la Jaws 1.

What movie did Hurley watch on the VCR in New Otherton?

I watched the sneak peek for season 5. It answered a minor question but was not unexpected or themeatic. It felt good to see something new.

So I rented the Season 4 DVD's just to see the bonus features. Got through disks one and two so far. Not much in the way of bonus features, except commentary on several episodes.

In one, Evangeline Lily and Jorge Garcia were basically talking (not really commenting on what was happening on screen) and talked about scenes they'd filmed, etc. I got so excited because they mentioned Lance Reddick and doing jungle scenes! They are returning to the island! Abaddon is back! Or so I thought. Turns out that they were doing the commentary for the episodes WHILE they were still filming season 4!

Hammer, maybe "Because you Left" is about WAAAAAAAALT. He never had the chance to reach his full potential.
