A LIST
of Lists

We're now three days out from the best three hours ever on television. Yeah, I know some people think Roots was better. I wasn't old enough to appreciate it back then.

I'm rewatching LOST from the very beginning now... and dragging my no-longer-reluctant love along with me on the ride this time. It is kind of nice to watch it KNOWING what I know, as well as through brand new eyes at the same time.

So far, we've only watched the two hours of the pilot. Nothing particularly revealing thus far. Hairstyles are a bit different, Sayid's accent is a bit odd, and it is funny to watch Yunjin Kim's Sun KNOWING that she speaks English. I wonder if Yunjin knew her character spoke English then, because she really pulls off the confused look when anyone other than Jin is speaking.

The only other even mild revelation is that Jorge Garcia's Hurley HAS lost quite a BIT of weight. Yes, he is still very big, but in the pilot, he is considerably bigger.

Ah the lists... we have Jacob's list, Bea Klugh's list, Ben's List, and Michael's List, and now, this list of lists. So much to ponder. Good thing we have six months left to do so (not).

Something else I am doing while I watch from the beginning is keep track of Sawyer's nicknames. It ought to be a drinking game ('cept I don't drink!).

So far I have

Boy (Sayid)
Buddy (Sayid)
Lardo (Hurley)
Doc (Jack)
Sweetheart (Kate)
Sweetcheeks (Shannon)
Chief (Sayid)

I think it is going to be fun keeping track!

I had the same idea about re-watching the whole series during the hiatus....you beat me to it. The Sawyer"s nickname LIST is really funny! Perfect to start it on "The Lists of Lists" section.....off to mow my lawn and assist with 5th grade homework.

Well with six months and no new LOST, I thought it was a perfect time to go back and see it with hindsight. Season 4 comes out December 9th. That gives me five months to watch 69 episodes and about a month to watch 12 episodes (14 hours). I wish that the S4 DVD came out sooner because I know it will be hard to rent when it first comes out.

But I figure that is a wonderful way to get through the dry time!

I took a quick glance at this. Totally freakish but very cool:

I will read it over myself a bit later....off to mow for real this time!

I started watching the first season again during the last break. I plan to start watching season 2 soon. I am sure I will watch them all at least twice before December 9. The only probem is I only have the last 5 episodes of season 4 and I am sure ABC will take it off the website soon. Anyways I like your Nickname list and you can compare it to the one at Lostpedia... I think you found one not on their site.

Tonight's thoughts have taken me to a really cool place. I've contemplated, compared, and contrasted the major differences of Locke, Bentham, and Hume. I ended up branching out into metaphysics and existentialism. I found a different kind of philosophy worth taking a look at.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie_Argument

I've listened to some pod casts and heard jokes made about the "Zombie Season". Anyhoo....pretty interesting. Maybe we are in for a "Zombie Season"!

PJSander said...

I will continue to post Sawyer's nicknames here if anyone finds it interesting, but I am also keeping a list offline just so the info is all in one place.

I didn't know Lostpedia had a Sawyer's nickname list. Doesn't seem like I need to do it, but I probably will anyway. *G*

I have just finished listening to the commentary attached to the two hour pilot and episode 3 - Walkabout. (Lostpedia considers this episode 4, as the pilot showed in two parts, and who am I to argue? From here on out, I will do the same.)

The only thing of note that I heard that I didn't know as common lore was that Locke was not ALWAYS supposed to be paralyzed. That was something they came up with AFTER the pilot, and apparently, they inserted a couple of scenes with the empty wheelchair into the pilot. I thought that was interesting and wonder if it plays any role in the overall arc of the story.

The zombie angle is interesting, isn't it? Thanks for that link, Miss Kim. I love how D&C may have been playing (with) us all along. Time will tell.

Thanks to DocH (is it really you?) on the big island for the link to the youbtube video with Maggie Grace, I found this clip

http://tinyurl.com/5qjz3h

which chronicles most of the flashforwards (not including part 2/3 of There's No Place Like Home) in what appear to be chronological order.

Anyone else wondering if the current "DocH" on the big island is the "REAL" DocH? His posts seem different and since he "returned" there and not here, I am wondering if it is an imposter?

An imposter? Hmmmmmm. Well, I checked out some of his posts from previous episodes and compared them to the current one. IMHO, the posts have all been written by the same author. I am not basing this on "what" any of them said, but rather how they were written. Doc's a fan of the... ( ) and -He writes well and is a good speller with a few personal variations on words,("Tho" for example which was spelled this way in more than one episode post),and uses punctuation appropriately. I think that it is weird that he hasn't visited the little island, but I also think it's a little unusual to delete all of your posts without saying good-bye on this island as well as on the Big Island. Perhaps he'll start posting here tomorrow or is even reading this today. (Hi Doc!) Either way, DocH has always had valuable insight and great theories.

Miss Kim said...

Captain Falafel. Now that's funny. Extremely politically INcorrect which makes it all the funnier!

PJSander said...

Re DocH and possible imposter... I may just be overly sensitive as I was on a yahoo group where there were several people posing as "others" infiltrating the camp and causing trouble (an Ethan and Goodwin, as it were).

The more recent of the "DocH" posts on the big island don't have his usual good grammar, punctuation, uppercase usage, etc. Perhaps he is just tired. Perhaps I am reading it all wrong. Just thought it odd that he would disappear for a week and then turn up and, most importantly, not acknowledge his disappearance, or our welcomes back.

Very few people know about the little island, and the REAL DocH is one of them. Anyone could FIND it if they looked in the right place, but until DocH returns to THIS island, or does something to allay my suspicions on the big island, I shall remain wary.

On a different note, I saw the "adam & eve" skeletons for the "first time" tonight. They were in two different sections of the caves. From what I could tell, one was supine, the other not.

I continue to enjoy seeing the show through the eyes of the knowledge I have now! LOL

RE: Imposter!!! You are spot on about the last 2 posts from DocH. He may have been tired as you suggested. I don't know though...even when I'm tired I still type a certain way. Capitals at the beginning of sentences, etc. You're right to think that until he pops back over to the little island that it may not really be the "original DocH". I caught the little "both islands miss you" thing when you wrote to him on the Big Island and you are right about not many people knowing about this island. However, there is more than one reason why someone doesn't say good-bye, visit, or acknowkledge being welcomed back into the community. Could DocH possibly be upset/angry about something that happened on the little or Big Island? I'm sure that this is not the case but it's feasible. Where the heck is Hammer lately? I've seen him on the Big Island.....he'd provide some good input about the DocH imposter theory.

Will the real DocH please stand up?I'm sure that all the "muck-draggers" just didn't want to see your good name soiled by an imposter. Ahoy, welcome back, and hope all is well. As mentioned previously above, you have always provided valuable insight and great theories.

PJSander said...

No muck raking intended, DocH! *G*

I was just taken aback by your speedy departure on the big island (sounded like you were "gone for now, and maybe forever") and the deletion of all your posts here.

Then, when you started posting again, but didn't acknowledge our "welcome back" and didn't come here, I worried that the DocH wasn't REALLY you, but someone pretending to be you, because they wanted the respect that you get on that blog!

So my heartiest of apologies, no harm was intended! I *am* glad you're back! Now... where the heck is Hammer? LOL

I made a JOKING comment. I hope it wasn't mine that miffed you. At the risk of sounding sappy, I'm glad you are back.

I have been a bit busy. I'm a coach for my daughter's 12u travel fastpitch team. We had a tourny. Between that and my side biz (event planning and party rental biz).......

This from the big island, DocH I'm feeling guilty that my poor joke may have been what miffed you.

Here's the post, it was a joke:

If I may interecede, DocH...

I think that Hammer was apologizing (several times) because he is worried that it was HIS joke that upset you on the big island. Since you didn't say one way or another that it WAS his joke that had you "miffed," he went with the assumption that it WAS his joke and apologized again.

I don't think his boxers are in a bunch. I think he just wanted you to know, no harm intended.

Sorry I missed the convo, but if I am the one who offended DocH, then I apologize also. I can be VERY annoying. I just like good debates and good people.

Hammer said...

I didn't get a chance to see what doc wrote before he deleted them so I can't comment, but you are correct PJ that his lack of response is why I repeated the apology.

PJSander said...

He deleted his comments again?

Hmmm.

Glad that when I spoke on your behalf, Hammer, I was on the right track.

I think DocH adds a lot here. I hope he comes back and stays this time.
