40 Days Out*
If we were on the island...

Michael and Jin, along with a few others, are rebuilding the raft. Michael thought it would be good to have some kind distress signal, but there is no power for it even if Sayid could build it. Then someone remembered that the crazy French woman, who held Sayid hostage, had batteries. Hurley went looking for her after he found one of her papers with the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 written on it over and over again. Charlie, Sayid and Jack all went after him and Hurley somehow managed to come back with a battery!

Sawyer keeps getting headaches and Jack determined he just needs glasses, which were made with Sayid's help. He LOOKS goofy, but at least it doesn't hurt him to read any more!

Then a terrible thing happened! Locke came back from one of his long days missing, with Boone over his shoulder! Boone was hurt really badly and despite Jacks herculean efforts, (including a blood transfusion from his OWN arm!) Boone died. Locke said he fell from a cliff, but Boone kept muttering about a plane and a hatch. He was pretty out of it, but Jack must not believe Locke's story, because after Boone died, he went out looking for Locke.

This death has overshadowed our tiny bit of wonderful news, though. Claire had her baby! He is a darling, tiny, apparently healthy, baby boy, which Kate delivered in the middle of the jungle (Jack was mid-blood transfusion, and couldn't be there to help).

(Note - *Even though I partly disagree with the timeline in Lostpedia, I will write to what is generally accepted as correct there and go with the idea that we've been on the island about 40 days.)

No comments yet??? OK ... FIRST!

I went to Disney World yesterday, they had a glass case with cans of DHARMA Veggies and Walt's comic book in it! I looked, but there weren't any DHARMA protucts for sale.

DHARMA displays at Disney? Now I hadn't thought about that. Maybe they can make a LOST ride - like the Jurassic Park ride, but with a smoke monster and polar bears instead of dinosaurs!

Great ideas, DocH. Of course, now that I think about it, the Jurassic Park ride is at Universal.

Still, a LOST ride / experience would be really cool.

Okay doch, who told you about my height? I usually save the self depricating humor for folks that can see me but let's just say I fit comfortably in an Oceanic seat. Not technically a "little person", but I've been told to sit on the floor and let me feet dangle.:)

5' 4" half German, half Italian, favor the Italian side...

Oh, I haven't been turned away from an amusement park ride yet....

DocH said: And - if you have to be so many inches tall to get on a ride... they can have a cut-out of young Walt to stand beside, to see if you are tall enough OR a taller ghost Walt holding his hand out flat, that you can stand under.

Great idea! Or, you have to be Walt's size to ride with an adult and Taller Walt's size to ride alone! LOL

Thanks for the link to the Saturn award winners.

But wait, any idea who was NOMINATED for best actress in a TV series? Because no offense to Love Hewitt, she's a sweetheart, but she isn't exactly in the same category of actress as Evangeline Lily or Yunjin Kim.

DocH: The "You have to be as tall as Walt to ride" thing is hysterical! I can actually envison a whole LOSTland....I'm thinking the whole "It's a small world" ride could be restructured to show each LOSTIE interacting w/ eachother at different times in their lives. (Desmond and Jack running in the stadium etc., etc.) Pirates of the Caribbean can feature The Black Rock as well as Tom Friendly. Let's not forget about dear Vincent. Perhaps he can be the mascot, kind of like Mickey. I've been crazy busy lately and though I haven't posted I've been getting my daily dose of LOST by checking in here, the Big Island, and other little islands that are popping up all over the place!!!!

PJ: I'm slowly but surely making it through all the episodes. Tonight I'll be watching the first episode of season 2.

DocH: I have also heard the polar bear turning the wheel theory.....it sounds feasible and could perhaps explain why a polar bear wound up in the desert. (Once you turn the wheel/leave the island you can't come back thing isn't something a polar bear would be worried about either) I'd be interested in having you share your thoughts.....

Sawyer's nicknames in Episode 21 The Greater Good:

Chuckie to Charlie
Baby Huey about Aaron (who as yet, is not actually named, but is referred to as Turnip-Head by Charlie)

Another interesting tid-bit that arose in the episode... it is Sayid's flashback, where he is co-opted by the CIA to track down 300 lbs of C-4 that is missing and thought to be used by terrorists. Hmmm... I wonder how much C-4 was on the freighter?

He ends up delaying his flight a day so that he can claim his friend's body, which puts him on the ill-fated flight.

Sawyer's nicknames from Episode 22 Born to Run:

Chief to Michael
Sulu about Jin
Mickey to Michael
Puddin' to Kate
Boss to Michael
Boy to Jin
Sweetcheeks to Kate
Freckles to Kate

Okay, a funny, perhaps purposeful coincidence in this episode: Kate's pseudonym when she picks up her mail at a hotel in the flashback is Joan Hart. Her dying mother is played by Beth Broderick, who was one of the Aunt witches from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, who was portrayed by Melissa Joan Hart.

There was a cassette tape in a time capsule that Kate and Tom Brennan made August 15, 1989 (*8/15* 1989).

Perhaps those things were noticed by others in the first go 'round, but *I* didn't notice them!

There we go L4E! Actually I'm trying you guys out to see if there IS a short joke I haven't heard. The "sit on the floor and let your feet dangle" is by far the best I've ever heard......challenge!!!

lost4ever said...

Short people are the last ones to get rained on, but the first ones to drown.

lost4ever said...

You're so short you could play handball against a curb.

Keep 'em comin'. The last one wasn't too bad, but an oldy.

Ahh, now that short joke is funny doch.

Although the theme song you rewrote was brilliant, I am a little surprised it wasn't used as a short joke. ;)

Yeah, well I was sensitive about until I got out of high school. Now I have been laughing about it for 21 years. No need to be PC w/me.

BTW, can you hear doch? No?....the smallest violin in the world. :) I'm the shortest in my family to with everyone shorter than 5'11". LOL

Although, I must say, it's refreshing to hear that someone 6'3" wishes he was taller.

Circus Dork's brother hit 6'3" about a year ago. He won't let us measure him anymore. He says he stoped growing at 6'2". Circus Dork is nearing 5'10" at 15 and might just get to 6' oneday. This is very unusual in circus. Circus performers are usually short like Hammer. Many people have joked that we have the tallest circus in the world. We had 3 acrobats over 6'2" in our show this year.

(BTW) I find humor at the expense of another persons lack of 'relative altitude' distasteful.

Wow...and then you throw the term midget out there.

The whole "polar bear moving the island" was heavily discussed on the thread "TNPLH parts 2 & 3" on the lostblog.net. Your reasoning behind it seems very likely to me, in fact, I think a couple of your points were brought up on it.

I was reading that post yesterday and Ben F struck again. I think I find him rude but entertaining. Not really sure.

At least Evie was nominated. I can't believe that Yunjin Kim wasn't.

Now that I see the nominations the JLH win is even MORE surprising. I have watched her since her Kids Incorporated days and she is SWEET and CUTE, but her acting is kind of, well, two dimensional. I rank her along with Jane Seymour and Faye Dunaway and Katie Couric, as pretty faces, but highly overrated talent-wise. But against Kyra Sedgwick, Holly Hunter, and Evie, I would have ranked JLH as last! (I haven't seen the other two shows.)

Let's see... compelling acting:

Jorge Garcia, everything OFF island (he is essentially the humor ON island)

Henry Ian Cusick, the Constant - especially the scenes where he doesn't know where he is, and on the "phone" with Penny

Jeremy Davis, pretty much every scene he does - he's either brilliant, or portraying himself

Naveen Andrews, the Ecomonist and finale

Evangeline Lily, Eggtown and finale

Sounds like LOST dominated the Saturn Awards. Was that award show on the sci-fi channel? I have never heard of them before. LOST is up for an early EMMY nod but the final cut has yet to be made.

Sorry DocH about misunderstanding you yesterday.[:^)

Your first post seemed rather serious about offending short people but I am not good at reading tones sometimes. Hammer asked for short jokes so i googled it. Anyways, I didn't know they had elevators in Ancient Asia? ;)

Happy Independence Day to ALL. It is a time for us to remember all of those that have and still continue to fight for our freedoms. I thank you. We may not all get along or like each other but we, who celebrate America's Independence, should all cherish our freedom.

After watching the spectacular mini-series on HBO, JOHN ADAMS, I forgot a fact from my youth. Both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on the same day, exactly 50 years after our Independence. The 2 most influential founders of our great nation.

Be careful with the fireworks you use this weekend and travel safely. I'm not leaving the city at these gas prices, 4.19 is just ridiculous, but there appears to be no end in sight.

Yes, I back you doc on the midget/dwarf thing.

I too am almost always joking even if I forget the emoticons.

And remember this: If you always arm pit level, life is just always funny. ;)

Okay caught back up.

I mentioned this before and don't know if it would be considered for anything, but the exchange between Ben and Locke in the finale was just awesome acting. The scene I'm talking about is when Ben gets tired of Locke being so "green" about the island. I thought the acting by Emerson was so realistic to the situation. The sarcasm...excellent.
