In the interest of keeping our interest... I am creating a FlashForward thread. We can still talk about LOST (and most likely we will talk about LOST and how it relates to FlashForward).
So here it is...

One thing I forgot to connect to LOST (and I don't remember anyone ELSE connecting to LOST) is the simple term "flash forward" used for the title.
I know that flashBACK was a commonly used term prior to LOST. Was flashforward common to our language prior to LOST? I am not a time-travel buff, so maybe one of you Tillies can help me out?
Something dh pointed out...
polar bear in the tropical jungle
vs
kangaroo in the concrete jungle
Hmmmm.
: ) P
Good points, PJ. :)
The book Flashforward (one word) was published in 1999, but that and "common to our language" are two different questions. I can't remember ever hearing the term before it showed up in Lost. They're different ideas, too. The people in Lost had already lived in 2008, but we did not know that; the people in the TV series Flashforward have lived through 2009, but have seen (okay, lived through, maybe) 137 seconds in 2010.
The interesting thing is, once the dust settles a little, will everyone remember other things their future selves had learned in the six months? Hang on!
8) Jim
Darn...yes, the kangaroo SCREAMED Lost at me...even my kids said something...then I totally forgot about it.
Right, Hammer. Because in addition to the "out of place" animal, it was an AUSTRALIAN animal!
Jim, have you read the book? Is that what the TV series is "inspired by" or something different? I remember reading that originally, the series was going to be "based on" the book, and it was changed to "inspired by" instead.
: ) P
Here is another question to bounce around... the characters have had visions / memories / lived for a few moments in their future. But now that they've SEEN that flash, will they still live it?
I don't know all the characters' names yet, but for example - will the FBI agent still drink? Will "Penny" still have an affair with the father of her patient? Will the other agent still go to London to meet "Dr. Corday" or will he stay in the US?
: ) P
PJSander said...
Jim, have you read the book?
No, but I wish I had. Our regional library does not have a copy in any of its eight branches. (I did read Illegal Alien, a kind of cop/legal novel involving aliens from outer space; I recommend it.) I do know from reading and listening that in the book everyone becomes unconscious for two minutes flat and that they see where they'll be in twenty years. That would drive the makeup department crazy!
The producers wanted more flexibility. They have a one-season, three-season and seven(?)-season plan.
David S. Goyer claims to know the last line of the last scene. That's comforting.
Will the characters live out the futures they have seen? Goyer says we'll have to watch the show!
Personally, I don't think Demetri, Mark's partner, became unconscious. Time will tell.
8) Jim
Jim in Georgia said: Personally, I don't think Demetri, Mark's partner, became unconscious. Time will tell.
Oooh. So you think that instead of being DEAD that maybe he was one of the "awake guys" Jim? Oooohhhh. Yeah, I like it.
I want to see all the people who saw themselves WITH other people to talk TO those other people. Not sure why. Just do. *g*
: ) P
If you don't think their spolierish, Doc please feel free to post the titles and centricities(?) for us.
: ) P
JIG, @ Dimitri...great thought. It did seem odd that he wasn't in the car or checking on Mark when Mark woke up. If he was ejected during the crash, he was in great shape. Weird that he would both be missing from the car AND not have a FF, eh?
I did see the titles DocH and the third one is quite funny! How much longer do we have to wait!!!
I thought about that too with Demetri, why wasn't he in the car? I guess he could have been thrown out, but he seemed to be ok...the kangaroo was funny! I hadn't thought about it being an "Australian" animal though, good catch PJ! Can't wait for this week's episode!
Now see... I thought Demetri's not being in the car was a shout-out to Jack and the crash...
MAYBE it is AND it is because he is an "awake guy" and maybe JACK is "an awake guy" (though I am not sure what that even means! LOL).
While we are on the subject... Demetri is an unusual first name for an Asian man, so I am guessing that his back story will be interesting! I wonder if it is significant that his last name is Noh, which I am guessing is pronounced No?
: ) P
Wow! I've been gone all afternoon.
Yes, I think Demetri's absence from the car with no major injuries, his not having a Flash he can describe, and his scorn toward the idea of the task force all add up to some strange stuff.
Demetri Noh - Russo-Japanese???
Mark's Flash is available on Youtube and the new wiki. It's 44 seconds long. There's obviously something we haven't seen yet. We need thoughtful people on the wiki; stop by, if only to lurk at first.
8) Jim
I was intrigued by the title (structure of the title?) of Lost 6x01....
8) Jim
Those titles are very intriguing, Doc! What are the titles of #1 and #2? (I don't want to "look" for them, for fear of being spoiled.)
FTR, just our little discussion of FlashForward in the last couple of days makes me want to watch the pilot again!

Hi All. It's MissKim, but google blogger won't accept my password so I'm posting as anonymous. Anyhoo...I was home with a sick kid yesterday so I finally got around to registering at lostuniversity. I took the test but it hasn't given me my results and there is only a dharma symbol flashing on my "binder" page. Has this happened to anyone else?
Miss Kim, I had to smile at your post - it sounded EXACTLY like our "fake" posts during our ill-fated April Fools joke. :)
How do I sign up for lostuniversity?
LOL, Rita.
Now that you've said that about Miss Kim's post, you are SO right! Best laid plans and all, eh?
: ) P
Hey Rita! Hmmmmmm. Maybe tptb were reading over our shoulders last April! The web address is: Lostuniversity.org
Let me know if it's working better for you than it is for me.
Oh goodie! I'm me again!!!
OK, I took the test on lostuniversity.org and only got 18. Rats, I thought I would do better than that! I wish they would give which ones I got wrong. Everything seemed to be working Miss Kim, unless you count only getting 18 - they put my score right up afterward, and then said I had to take a refresher course!!! :) Anyway, it was fun, even if I am a bit rusty, so it seems!
Doc said: I am not doing the LOST University (.org) thing. I was going thru some of the backpages in the source document and discovered... Dean of Academics..?.. Tarzan!

Ep 1 & 2. Jim in GA can probably tell you without ruining it. I'd just mess it up.
Ep 6x01 is "LA X". What? LAX, of course is the airport.
*"The way LA used to be?"
*"People who used to live in LA?"
Add your version below. I'm clueless.*grin*
I can't remember 6x02 and can't find the page where I saw it.
8) Jim
LA 10? as in LA 2010?
LA x-marks the spot? as in where they WOULD have landed?
If OA815 lands in LA "as it was supposed to" in September 2004, I can't imagine that they will "stay" there for long. Otherwise the entire season will have to be created from archived footage SHOT in 2004!
Maybe the plane will land and everyone will continue as they would have until X date in the future (say April 29th, 2010! LOL) when SUDDENLY all the OA815'ers who SURVIVED the crash the first time will have "memories" and seek each other out?
IDK,
: ) P
EX LAX, because of the 'purge'...yep...I went there.
Oh and 6.01 and 6.02 are likley both called LA X, two hour premeire. Part 1 and 2?
LA Xtraneous time/travel. Because if they land safely in LA, someone will do something (turn the wheel?)and they will travel back to the island.
Hammer said...

OK, I have to confess that I went there too...Hmmmmmm :)
I like the idea of X (in LA X)doubling as a roman numeral 10 - as in Ajira 10. I guess we will have to wait to find out but it is so hard!

I don't hunt. Getting up at Oh-dark-thirty, putting on camouflage clothing and going out to sit in the rain reminds me too much of what I used to do for my living. But have a great time, REALLY!
8) Jim
Don't forget Flashforward tonight.
I do hunt. Opening day was today...saw five doe, no bucks. Jr. sat with me in a tree for the evening hunt and grunt called in a large doe. We himmed and hawed and let her pass.
Then we caught FF. Getting very interesting.
Hammer said...
Then we caught FF. Getting very interesting.
OK. I'm hooked. :)
*sigh*
I won't get to watch FF until either tomorrow (online) or Friday when ABC shows it again. After that, I think we'll watch Survivor online and TiVo FF because I CANNOT STAND abc dot com. (Hmmm. Maybe that is WHY abc dot com is so awful?!)
: ) P
I watched it. Wow!
Okay, so here is what I am trying to wrap my head around... DURING the blackout, people flashed forward to a time six months in the future. And for some of those people, that future was directly related to the blackout... Benford is investigating the blackout; Olivia is with a man whom she met BECAUSE of the blackout. So in that 137 seconds, they saw the future as it was BECAUSE of that 137 seconds.
WHERE THE HECK IS Dominic Monaghan?! Yes, I am impatient.
I am also having a bit of a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that Benford is investigating things based on what he saw in the future, but wouldn't be, if he hadn't seen that future. Sounds like a crazy catch-22.
Final note... if I, the common lay-person, predicted that the doll warehouse was going to blow up because the doll in the picture in the future was burned and melted, why did the specially trained FBI agents not take more caution and then run like HELL when Benford tripped the "alarm" system?!
Despite the brain contortions required, I still LOVED the episode.
: ) P
So, here's my most recent question: Do the people who have flashed remember only the events of the flash or do they also remember the events of the six months between real time and "flash time"? I suppose I could have made that more complicated.
Is Mark Benford working alone at 10:00 pm on Apr 29, 2010 because his partner is dead and he knows Demetri died? If so, what's his motivation in not telling Demetri?
Others:
If everyone flashed to the same time, why is Janis in her gynecologist's office for what appears to be a non-emergency exam at 10:00 pm?
Does anyone have an historical reference for the 137 seconds?
Why is Thursday so far away?
8) Jim
Jim said: "If everyone flashed to the same time, why is Janis in her gynecologist's office for what appears to be a non-emergency exam at 10:00 pm?"
A-ha! There is the LOST style in depth analysis I've been waiting for! Good question.
My guess is that they don't have the same type of staff that LOST hired to track those types of things. They likely should have had her reading the result instead of showing her having the test.
If everyone flashed to the same time, why is Janis in her gynecologist's office for what appears to be a non-emergency exam at 10:00 pm?
I thought the same thing and discussed it with dh. She seemed to be VERY relieved when she saw the movement, so we thought perhaps she had had a fall and maybe was in the ER?
Do the people who have flashed remember only the events of the flash or do they also remember the events of the six months between real time and "flash time"? I suppose I could have made that more complicated.
I think that SOME people must have "memories" of the six months in between because Dylan Simcoe a) knew he was going to be all right and b) knew Olivia. Also, Charlie knew Dylan but hasn't mentioned seeing him in her "bad dreams."
I love that we can talk about this among like-minded people!

Homeland Security QueenBee...
Hollywood loves DHS. (Broyles in Fringe was DHS, now he's...) Did she get to LA on a special aircraft? The airlines are shut down for some dramatic or public relations reason. But Doc's right: How could these guys be surprised to see her?
It doesn't ruin the show for me. In the real world, the Los Angeles Field Office would have hit the central registry for a case number. I just let some of the stuff flow over me.
The plot's good.
8) Jim
Good point about the sonogram, you would think she would mention if she was in the ER or just at a normal appointment? Maybe she won't be living in L.A. by then? Maybe she'll be in a different time zone? I can't remember if we heard the nurse/doc/sonographer/whatever talk during her appointment, maybe there's an accent. She did seem pretty relieved though.
I don't think people remember the events between the day the blackout happened and the future event they saw. Olivia said she had never seen Simcoe and didn't know who he was or how she knew him...if she has such intense feelings for him in the future, you would think she would remember more about what led her to that, if she could remember it...I think there's something going on with Charlie and Dylan though...those kids know something, they're a little creepy!
TXYorkFamily said...
time zone?
Duuuh. Yes! I'll be back as soon as I restart my brain. If it was 6:00 am the next day in London, then Janis had to be further east. Most of western Europe would be at 7:00 am. So, she was even further east. Moscow? or maybe west of LA where it was still daylight. Australia? Hmmm...
8) Jim
Australia is exactly what I was thinking...Sydney is like 10 hours ahead of LA, right? Just to clarify, nothing in the show pointed to her being in Australia, but it would be a neat little LOST coincidence!

pre-natal exam...Baseball Game
Good points on both. We'll probably get a "Janis-centric" episode before too far into the season. There has to be a non-scifi explanation of how she got to be pregnant. The longest single game on record is over eight hours.
8) Jim
It is funny you should say that, Doc, because I thought that Suspect Zero MOVED like Dominic Monaghan. But you are right, S0 is quite tall.
: ) P
@ Tigers Game.
The REAL game on April 29th 2009:
Start time was 7:05p Eastern.
Duration was 2hrs 57 mins.
It was at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Tigers lost to Yankees 8-6.
We've all been tricked. The baseball game isn't a Flash; it's realtime. The image from the ball park is 2:00 pm October 6, 2009. The Tigers were in Minnesota(?) and the park was "empty?" (Hammer, Help!)
8) Jim
OK I'm confused. Our "flash" game is April 29, 2010 - is it not? What's the trick?
No trick Rita. I realized it while on my way home from work that I looked up the wrong date. (apologies) JIG is correct...on the 'real' Oct. sixth game just happened two days ago in Minnesota at 5:00p. So they didn't use a 'real life' situation.
Ok...I get the feeling that Mark murders Dimitri.
Good catch on the game, guys!
Did anyone notice that "Kate" (imdb says "Katie"), who was Aaron's dead daughter's mother (presumably, since he needed her signature on the paperwork to exhume her body), was played by LOST's "Cassidy" Kim Dickens?
Still no Dominic. I am starting to feel cheated! Then again, maybe he's too busy working on... LOST!
: ) P
Ever the optimist PJ! Never give up on Charlie - it just wouldn't be the same if you did. :)
So Tracy really WAS dead - and the "future" ISN'T necessarily what they saw in their visions? I hope they track the people from (?)I forget where - who blacked out in the 90's - did they see the future? Did it unfold as they saw it? Interesting...
I think David Goyer promised Dominic Monaghan would appear by Ep 4 (but don't quote me!).
Herr Geyer (now there's a piece of work if there ever was one) has some special characteristics? Did crows die near him and other selected people especially? Admittedly it's less than a week since the GBO in FF time, but how come nobody in Government has noticed all those crows dying elsewhere?
BTW, I loved the wimpy airline CEO who could fly on his own airplane without be "fortified." The GBO is over, Bozo!
So if Demetri is referenced in Didi's Flash and Zoey sees him in hers, does he really die? Is the mysterious caller playing with Dem's mind?
Why did the boy in Somalia not Flash? Immunity, like Suspect Zero? Distance from the source (the tower)? Why does a village that small have a tower that tall?
Okay, I'll go away for a while *grin*
8) Jim
Oops. Replace "could fly" with "could not fly"
8) Jim
Do we know that Zoey actually definitely saw Demitri? I mean, what we saw was from far away, so maybe she just assumed it was him but he dies and she ends up marrying someone else?
That thing in Africa was strange, what the heck kind of tower was that! Great episode, I think I'm totally hooked now (but I could do with a "Charlie" episode!)
I don't think that really is dead. All the shots of her are bedridden and you can only see her head in the FF. Sooo...my early prediction is the body parts (remains) that were put together and returned home are from more than one person and the parts tested were Tracy's. She is alive and missing a limb or two.
Next...the Africa thing...the boy didn't FF because the FF was a targeted experiment that was focused at the village to see if it would work. It was then expanded to whole world.
I think you are on to something Hammer, about Tracy AND the Somalian village. Not sure about Zoe yet though. I had thought, like Lins, that she may not have REALLY seen Demitri - but it seems she would have remembered that it wasn't REALLY their wedding day...
I have MISSED disecting things with you all!
Regarding Aaron's daughter Tracy, I like the idea that what was in the grave contained SOME of her DNA. Potentially, they collected piece of body, some of which wasn't hers. Didn't her remains only weigh 37 pounds or something? *37* 137 seconds. Hmmm.
Is Aaron's bad beard a tribute to Jack's bad beard?
Aaron, Charlie, Kate. Dead birds. Plane crashes. Sonya Walger, Dominic Monaghan (supposedly *g*), Kim Dickens. Time flashes. Doctors failing to commit suicide. Throw in a bad-ass, shirtless, con-man turned hero and they might just have a hit on their hands.
: ) P
Do we know that Zoey actually definitely saw Demitri? I mean, what we saw was from far away, so maybe she just assumed it was him but he dies and she ends up marrying someone else?
Good point, LINS. She could have just seen her groom from the back and wouldn't have any reason to believe it wouldn't be Demetri. Or she could be lying about the whole thing, just like Demetri is. Maybe she saw herself crying at his gravesite. Maybe she saw herself eating a Big Mac and fries.
: ) P
BTW, I loved the wimpy airline CEO who could fly on his own airplane without be "fortified." The GBO is over, Bozo!
True, Jim. But who knows when it will happen again?!
So if Demetri is referenced in Didi's Flash and Zoey sees him in hers, does he really die? Is the mysterious caller playing with Dem's mind?
Who *is* the mystery caller?! She sort of seems to be Anne Bancroft meets Genevieve Bujold meets Christiane Amanpour and smacks of Nina Sharp from Fringe.
: ) P
I'm going to intoduce religeon into this show. I doubt that she married someone else since he is supposed to be murdered in March and the wedding is in April...so maybe her flash was of 'heaven'...lot of white, dreamy scene. Maybe she SAW Dimitri because she was dead too? Maybe some people see the 'after life' and some just see blackness?
Oh...and PJ, if I had a flash...with two kids, two jobs, sports galore, etc....I would likly see myself eating a Big Mac and fries....for dinner...again. :)
Too many to cite!
I do like the idea of the Somali village as the test bed for the GBO project.
The mysterious caller is Nhadra Udaya. Someone added to her page on the wiki that she called from Kowloon, Hong Kong, but I don't know if that's fact or opinion. Anyway, name is Russian?
Mark's Flash (as seen) was the longest. Lloyd's, if it was Lloyd's, was the shortest ("I gotta make a call.")
How long were the Flashes? Not the blackout; that's 2:37. Did everyone (minus) in the world have a preview that lasted 2:37 or did they vary, based on how much each individual "needed to know?"
Are the children the answer?
8) Jim
Good stuff here, I agree PJ, I missed this! So happy we have something to occupy our minds until February (which isn't too far away now)!!
I think it's interesting that we've had some people who's visions completely agree with others and some who's visions are completely different/wrong/whatever. I'm glad there's some variety, gives us something to try and figure out instead of just accepting the fact that if one person saw someone, that someone must have seen the other person as well.
But WHY?!?!? I agree Jim, I think these kids know more than we've gotten to see yet.
I'm glad we have something to chew on, too. A month or so ago, I managed to watch two episodes of "Defying Gravity" before it went off the air. That was an example of scifi designed to give the genre a bad name...
8) Jim
...I agree Jim, I think these kids know more than we've gotten to see yet.
Yes, there is something not right about the "visions" the kids have seen. Dylan was not in Olivia's vision - she did not meet him in her's - yet he KNEW her. She told him in the ER that "everything is going to be alright" and he said "yes I know it is Olivia". It seems that even if the adults don't remember the "past" six months leading up to their future visions, the kids do. This would make them KEY to unlocking mosaic.
SORRY ALL!
I have not fully read the blog since the day B4 the finale. I was Extremely disappointed in it, I felt like I LOST it. I have since realized where I think ( at least HOPE ) where they are headed with the show.
UNforunately, I fear FRINGE maybe better now. I have skimmed here and there, and I do not mean to depreciate any of ur thoughts, but S5 E16, "The Incident", almost felt like Michael Bay took over. JMO. I have been struggling with this feeling for 5 months now.:)

What kind of bird was it that flew into the window in the FBI guy's FF, the one that they showed in the first episode, where he called the FBI girl to confirm it (sorry, I don't remember all of their names yet)?

I'll repeat my entry (with better spelling) from scifiscoop.com:
I have to agree with the naysayers. I watched episodes 1 and 2 and just couldn’t summon up the enthusiasm to watch number 3 (on-line) or number 4 (on TV). Mission commander and spouse (and subordinate) strip and make love on the flight deck as the flight director says, “Let’s turn off the camera.” Don’t these people have a cabin? Don’t answer that!
“Frustrated Housewives in Zero-G” would be a better title. And I don’t care enough about what’s in bay number 4. Sorry,I won’t be back to the show.
It's a shame. I really wanted to like the show. I've liked Ron Livingston since he was on "Band of Brothers," where he gave some soul to what could have been a hard-to-like character (poor little rich boy).
I haven't tried "Mercy." I can probably "fit it into my schedule" now that I've decided that "Heroes" is endless with a rapidly diminishing premise and no apparent end.

I have to agree that there were parts of the finale that were so far off base as to be incomprehensible. Breaking into the DHARMA basement from the cavern was a hoot; how could DHARMA not have known about those caverns from building "Otherville?" I know it's TV, but the total ignorance of nuclear weapons technology is stupid.
But I hope that season six will hold up to the standard.

ABC has ordered nine more episodes of FF! A full season!

I see tonight's ep of FF is titled "Black Swan" - which feels like yet another LOST reference. ;)
Just wondering if FBI agents can really arrest people in India? I don't think so...hmmmmmmm
LOL. I thought they said India, too. It was IndiO, California!
I don't want Charlie (Simon) (Dominic) to be a bad guy! WAAAAH. I am sure it is the role of a lifetime, a villain is against the hobbit/washed-up-musician/hero type, for sure.
So Simcoe is possibly a bad guy, too. Maybe Olivia ISN'T really *with* him, but maybe she is undercover working for her husband and is only PRETENDING to be with him?
Curiouser and curiouser.

Well THAT explains it! I guess I can't be knitting a baby blanket (for a friend) and watch the show at the same time - I miss things! Thanks PJ.
I like your theory that Olivia isn't really "with" Simcoe, but she (and he) mentioned having "feelings" for the other, and a sense of "being with" them.
Also, just a thought: If (forgot his name already - the Addison's disease guy) NOW has a diagnosis, and is able to be TREATED for his Addisons, would his future still come "true" - with the vision of himself with UNTREATED Addisons symptoms? I suppose he could have chosen to NOT be treated, but why would he? Hmmmmmm.

I also thought Sanford said "India" and thought "If he won't let Mark go to Somalia, why is he sending him to India?" Fortunately, I was looking at the screen when city was identified. By the way, someone on the wiki caught the fact that the Somali incident was identified through a request to the Department of Homeland Security, a department that did not exist in 1991!

Yes Doc...I feel that the show is currently showing us 'course correction' LOL as if we hadn't beaten that horse enough with LOST. As much as some people are trying to change things so their FF doesn't come true...dare I say fate is course correcting their actions ala Desmond trying to keep Charlie alive.
Whatever is going to happen, happens?
As much as we like to go - ooohhh... LOST this, and ummm... Stargate that and ...SciFi (yada-yada)... or whatever tickles your production/crew fancy - I noticed one name in the credits that has been doing flash-forward, time-travel, alternate/parallel universe stuff the firstest and the mostest -- Brannon Braga. He has been at the heart of Star Trek:TNG... ST:Voyager... and ST:Enterprise. 23+ years... he wrote the book on flashforward-ish stuff. As producer extraordinaire, I guess he got tired of waiting for the next Star Trek franchise.
Interesting scene at the beginning of "Black Swan." Ned Ned (love the name!), who has been braced against a post, wakes up and looks around. Almost immediately, an African(?) or African/something woman comes to the surface after having been underwater for almost two full minutes and starts speaking French rapidly. How did she survive under water during the GBO? Where did she come from that she would speak French first?
8) Jim
And speaking (typing?) of shows ripping off LOST, tonight's episode of "Heroes" was "Tabula Rasa"...it fit the episode, but I just thought about LOST for the whole hour...a little depressing, I know :)
Hey DocH, do you facebook? Got my backyard buck but don't want to give details here (non hunters wouldn't appreciate that).
DocH was on FB - but he's not part of the Tillie group on FB or my "friend" so he's either "gone rogue" or left FB!

Thanks Jim.
I get that once in awhile too. When it happens, it happens quite a few times...then no problems for awhile...then does it again.
Well, I guess my theory that everyone might have had different length Flashes was wrong. (How did you all let me get away with writing 2:37 up higher? *grin*) Senator Clamente said so. On another platform, Doc and I have discussed the good Senator in terms not used among the genteel... I think it's interesting that they took until episode five to show us the face of Janis' sonographer. And Stan Wedeck has a history. My, my.
8) Jim
Okay, so I stayed away until tonight because I hadn't had a chance to watch until now.
First, I know Joseph Fiennes is a Brit, but it was so odd to see that PSA with him using is real voice! Imagine him and Sonya Walger doing it in their English accents! Kind of like Olivia and Walter speaking in their Ozzie accents!
FTR, I haven't seen a single MOMENT of Fringe yet this season. Got it all of TiVo for one day.
So what is at stake in this investigation that Wedeck would call in the president's illegitimate child card in order to secure funding?
Next question - they have "five motnths" (ish) to figure it out and then live through it (again, ostensibly). How long can they go on investigating this AFTER 04/29/2010?
Finally, has anyone seen the date written out like I just wrote it? I think every calendar shown in a FF shows the word *April* 29, 2010. Just wonder if that is significant.

That PSA really caught me by surprise. At first, I didn't recognize him! I didn't notice Sonya; maybe I was using my DVR for its intended purpose.
...April 29, 2010...
I guess they can spend the time after D-Day trying to catch the bad guys, but if this thing turns into "The Fugitive," I outta here!

Thanks, DocH.
I looked at some of the articles. One dealt with a character that surprised me. I doubt if there was much there of the type that we won't see in the broadcast trailers that have to start NLT December. Yes? Please? We're getting there!
8) Jim
I'm going to pass on the Hawaii blog link, though I appreciate your sharing it, Doc. I saw a photo of the cast in their 70's garb last year and it did kind of mess me up!
I don't think Sonya Walger has done a PSA (yet), Jim. It is just that I know she's a Brit from LOST.
The actress who played Naomi on LOST is in the new USA series "White Collar" also sans-accent!
Thanks for the suggestion about watching the season closer of Fringe, Doc. That sounds like a good idea.

YEA! The first Lost commercial -- well, the first one I've seen -- aired during FlashForward.
Wild episode tonight. It could have done without the skin. We got Dylan's Flash, Simon's Flash, and a crisis of trust, as Olivia put it. Is Mark getting ready to move out?
And the kangaroo was back...
8) Jim
Well that had to be a nice birthday treat, PJ, getting to see so much of Charlie/Simon FINALLY!! He makes a pretty decent bad guy. The kangaroo was interesting...
Seeing Charlie / DM was sweet, though I am not quite sure I like him as a bad guy. I actually didn't see the whole episode because dh kept falling asleep! I paused it about half way through and we will watch the rest this weekend.
The return of the kangaroo was cool (at least I think so - I saw it once while they were trick or treating). Favorite line: That is the best costume I have ever seen.
I was glad to see Dylan's flash - and Charlie was in it... but didn't Charlie have "bad guys" in her flash? Maybe I will learn more about that in the second part of the episode.
Two full months and a partial month (assuming a mid-January start date) until Season 6! Yahoo!
Happy Halloween Tillies! Our little Peter Pan and Tinkerbell are already in bed, trick or treating is easy when they're this little :) Enjoy whatever candy comes your way!
PJ @ Charlie FF. If I remember correctly, she said something about no more 'good days' as opposed to seeing bad guys. I think it was a reference to dad drinking again and mom and dad were no longer together.
She also said D. Gibbons is a bad man.
I like the way they're adding to the Flashes as they go. In Ep 1, we learned that Al Gough was in London talking to a doctor from ER (sorry, couldn't resist, to a Scotland Yard inspector) In Ep 6 we find out that he saw the dead bird up close and that he was using his cell phone while emotionally agitated. What does the phone call have to do with the "Celia" he was searching for on the Mosaic Collective?
I wondered if D. Gibbons was more of a phrase relating to alcoholism, such as calling an alcoholic "D. Gibbons," but I couldn't find anything on a quick search of the Web to back up that idea.
We know that at least part of Charlie's Flash will be her telling Dylan, "It's your house, too." This is a very nice thing to say (Mi casa, su casa. Did I spell that right?), but also something easily misunderstood(?) by an autistic child. We also know, if Charlie was telling her mother the truth, that she (Charlie) did not know Lloyd. That means that April 29 was Lloyd's first time in the house?
Curiousier and curiousier.
And I know he's not Lost's Charlie, but I like Simon as portrayed by Dominic Monaghan.
That kangaroo sure does get around.
8) Jim
Okay, was the last of show from Lloyd telling Simon..."Our little experiment killed two million people."? So Lloyd was involved in the FF? Sounded like Simon was part of a very large group that was looking for Lloyd to talk to him...about what?
Hammer said...
So Lloyd was involved in the FF? Sounded like Simon was part of a very large group that was looking for Lloyd to talk to him...about what?
Lloyd works at Stanford (big research place), discipline not specified; Simon's a physicist. How long did the event in Ganwar last? (I know, this is terribly disjointed...) So, they conducted the beta test in 1991, for a few seconds, maybe. 2009 is the event. But something went wrong and it lasted longer than anticipated? Lloyd was in charge of setting the event duration? His co-workers are really, really annoyed. Does it have anything to do with Schrödinger's cat? Maybe unconsciousness was an unfortunate side effect in the beta test and it was supposed to have been fixed?
I love this show!
8) Jim
All I know is that Benford needs to find Daniel Faraday BEFORE he goes to the island. Maybe THAT is why Daniel was crying when he saw the O815 in the trench... he knew that the REAL flashforward was going to be FAR WORSE.
Kidding aside, that got me thinking about that scene. COULD it be that that "flashback" scene of Daniel was him crying because he thought that he didn't fix anything and the plane still crashed?

I hate to type these words, but I think Juliet is toast. It's kind of a shame, 'cause I think she was good for James Ford and her being gone will lead Ford nowhere to go but to become Sawyer again. I liked the redeemed Ford.

I'm inclined to agree with Jim in G on this one. It was an appropriate "death scene" for a main character - maybe a bit of overdrama if she isn't a goner. It would be a pretty big stretch to imagine anyone surviving THAT!
Can't wait for the season to start back up again!! :)

Juliet IMO will be alive 'cause I think it wasn't the bomb exploding...otherwise they would hav to explain why all the people around the area didn't die with her. Maybe she'll die later from her injuries?

Well, that's succinct. Saves me from adding another hour of watching television come January. *big grin* I also read that... well, never mind. D & C once said that the only creature guaranteed to make it to the curtain is Vincent. Now there's a blood bath for the final season.

Right! The one we saw in "The Gift" wasn't substantially/any longer than what we saw the first time.
BTW, the gift was:
* The knife
* Tracy
* Hope for Mark/Olivia/Dem/Zoey
* Life for Celia
* ?
8) Jim
Okay...what I saw was course correction of sorts. Dude kills himself...not supposed to happen...puts a wrinkle in what is supposed to happen. Instead of seeing his daughter in Iraq, she makes it home on her own (I still believe that she was alive all the time, just had body parts mixed up). I think that Ceclia will still die ala Charlie in LOST, just that he wasn't the reason...the boys will still be orphaned.
More LOST comparisons - Aaron and Traci's knife is like Alpert and Locke's compass!
As we first see Demetri at the top of the building, I said to dh, "Oh no, he is going to jump and Celia is going to break his fall!"
That one didn't pan out, though!
: ) P
Hammer said...

Agree. I put a UAQ on the wiki: "How was Celia supposed to have died?" Premise: Celia was in car A. Al slammed into her while driving car B (tailgating, tsk, tsk) because he had been hit by car C. Al is now gone so car C slams into into car A instead, killing Celia. Got that? Good, explain it to me. *grin*
8) Jim
I agree Jim, that it will be something like that - just like poor Charlie (sorry PJ!), poor Celia is going to die. Hammer's course correction, or FF's version thereof.
Just saw the list of nominees for the People's Choice Awards, LOST was up for three; TV Sci Fi/Fantasy, Matthew Fox for TV Actor Drama, and for TV Drama. I believe the article said that the show airs January 6 on CBS.
Oh PJ!!! That's exactly what I thought when I realized he was going to jump! I thought it was just gruesome so thankfully that is not what happened.
Btw, what's going to happen with the FF discussions when Lost comes back?
Btw, what's going to happen with the FF discussions when Lost comes back?
If FF is still on when LOST is back (and I am not sure either way), we can discuss both here. Having more than one blog is too much to worry about! LOL
: ) P
btw - we can discuss V here too. Haven't watched it yet, but I will!
The Prisoner is back?! Over at http://www.imdb.com/ they're advertizing the new series with Ian McKellen and Jim Caviezel with a start date/time/place of Sunday at 8/7c on AMC. I have mixed emotions about the original version; I thought the last episode was downright strange.
8) Jim
Great. I like V too. So far, it's not a 'figure it out' type of program, as the first two shows seem to have told us everything that is going on. But the scifi story is cool.
Speaking of LOST. I don't want to lose sight of a comment Ben once made to Whidmore. The comment about changing the rules. That was never a answer that satisfied me about what he meant.
IMHO, it'll get a little messy if we try to discuss (seasons) Lost 6, FF 1, and V 1 all on threads primarily dedicated to individual Lost episodes. How many people are interested enough in FF to contribute to a separate blog?
8) Jim
I would if someone starts one like PJ's (close and comfy and uncluttered...unlike what has happened to the big island). I think PJ was just saying she doesn't have time to run two blogs herself. No?
I agree with Hammer - close, comfy and uncluttered sounds good to me!
Possible titles for a blog very similar to "They Moved the Island!":
* "Flashwhereward?"
* "They Moved My Consciousness!"
8) Jim
Oh I don't mind starting another blog - but if it is just going to be us checking it, it is just one more place to look is all. The Heroes one I started kind of died a slow death so I was worried that might be the case here.
It isn't a big deal to set one up, so if you want it, I can do it.
How about we wait until early 2010? If we are still really into discussing FF and V when LOST starts back up, I will get a new V/FF blogspot going. Sounds good?
: ) P
Yes...sounds good PJ.
Gonna have to watch the latest FF epi again...a little confused as to what they are saying about being able to change the future. Throwing out the unmentionables, suicide...then dun, dun, duuun...there's a bunch of guys with stars on their arms....hmmmm....
Oh wait...brain fart...maybe the Jericho folks aren't coming to Mark's office because of the FF, but they are coming to him because he know where to find Tracy. Just a coincidence that he is also investigating the FF?
Hammer said...

Wow! Where has my brain been?
Everyone said (essentially)... small group.
Yes, I think that makes conversations less likely to wander off into Neverneverland.
8) Jim
I like PJ's idea of waiting until LOST actually starts back up to decide about another thread for FF or V or whatever. How about for now we post at the beginning of our comments "FF", "V", "LOST", etc. so that anyone who isn't interested in that program has the option of skipping it. Just a thought.
Can the FF and V comments from here and The Emmy(?) be captured and added to a "start up" on the new blog? Does it matter? I guess maybe the second question should be first...
8) Jim
If the FF at Wikia is behind it's because we do not yet have enough good analysts, but we're young.

Did they definitely say that the arm star tattoo guys and jericho are the same thing? I was a little distracted watching it and can't remember...? If so, it would make sense to me, that Mark could be in his office late working on Mosaic perhaps, but also working on protecting Tracy?
TXYorkFamily said...
Did they definitely say that the arm star tattoo guys and jericho are the same thing?
They didn't actually say it, but the hint was pretty strong. The vehicle the bald-headed man arrived in was a standard five-ton truck and the area looked very much like military maintenance area. I suppose it could be mis-direction, but...
And Simon has a last name! Simon Campos.
If we could just get a first name for "Agent Vreede," we'd be up to speed. You'd think by now that someone coulda called him by his first name. Hmm... Is that a hint? Is he the mole who (will) let the bad guys into the FBI office on April 29? Gotta think about that one for awhile.
8) Jim
I haven't watched last week's episode, so I am just posting here to say hello and that I haven't time traveled! I will read what everyone has written once I have seen the episode!
Hello!
: ) P
Here a thought that contradicts my idea that Jericho coming for Mark is just a coinsidence. What if Jericho enlisted Simon, et al to 'experiment' and recreate a black out, but this time world wide, so they could 'do something' that took 2:17 while the world was asleep. A Jericho could be the dude a Comerica Park in the video? Maybe whatever Tracy discovered about Jericho entails knowledge of what they were after AND that they were going to use the blackout to get it?
April 29 is going to be interesting. We have been seeing snippets of the characters Flashes. On the (season, I hope) finale, we get to see them all together in context. Two hours?
8) Jim
Watched it! (Just in time to get behind another week - lol)
Good call, Hammer, on it only being a body part of Tracy's that was identified as her remains.
So, does Mike know she is alive? If so, why go to Aaron now? If not, why go to Aaron now?
The show is really coming together. Like the title of the blog entry says, It isn't LOST. but it will do for the moment.
Still haven't watched V yet. First episode didn't make the TiVo, so will try to watch online sometime soon.
Fringe is getting lots of advertising power and buzz. Have 6 episodes on TiVo, hope that is all of them! LOL
(Hopefully) less than two months until we can get LOST again!
: ) P
Thanks PJ. It seemed like a 'Sixth Sense' scenario for me(Yeah, I'm one of those jerks that figured out Bruce Willis' character was dead about 5 minutes in.)
As earlier stated, I'm not convinced anyone has changed the future...much. Our jumper may have changed when he died, but I'd bet he was gonna commit suicide after April 29th anyhoo. ;) Aaaand...I still think the woman he is attempting to save still dies too.
