Do a Little Dance!

ABC has apparently announced that the final season of LOST will begin airing on February 2, 2010, with a one hour catch-up / clip show at 8pm, followed by a two-hour season premier at 9pm.

Okay, so it means we have more than two months to wait, but with only seventeen hours of NEW programming left, I think the wait will be okay.

Can I hear a collective YAAAA-HOOOO?!

Cool. SpoilerISH, yes. But since I trust that Carlton won't truly spoil me, I am happy to know it. I know of several other past cast members who've been to Hawaii. Knowing it doesn't bother me, since I can't possibly figure out how they factor in!

So excited to have an official date to look forward to! I wish it would air on a different night of the week since I always have to watch it on DVR and stay up late, but oh well, it's worth it!! I need to watch last season's finale a few more times to freshen up!!

Finally watched last week's FlashForward. I really do like this show, even with some of the outlandish things we are expect to accept.

What a FANTASTIC birthday present CM! I love the idea of not waiting until Wednesdays, or Thursdays, but I am not sure I like the idea of Tuesdays. Yes, it is hard to please me *G*.

"Believe"

Interesting FF episode. It turns out that Bryce's vision in his Flash of Kieko is at a restaurant in Los Angeles. Kieko knows that, but I don't think it's clear whether Bryce knows that, yet. Nice little touch that they both get to L.A. on the same plane but that he never sees her. The timing of the Flashes continues to get me. If Kieko's flash includes all that time running, how long was Bryce sitting at the restaurant to not know what city (heck, country!) he's in?

Awesome! Great to have a date!

JiG - I actually thought it was a bit silly that they wouldn't have seen each other at all on that 12ish hour flight. You tend to do a lot of strolling around the plane on that flight and I have a feeling they would've noticed.

Btw, this is probably tmi, but I'm basically in the early stages of labor right now and trying to distract myself. Glad to know you guys are here!

Good point; it's been a very long time since I crossed the Pacific. Iguess not seeing each other "adds dramatic tension" or something like that.

Btw, are "flgrl" and flgr;" the same handle?

Okay. FF...is it me, or are we getting the WHH scenario going here. It seems to me that the FF 'always' happened and that Bryce and Keiko will meet in April BECAUSE OF the FF. Mark is creating the mosaic board in his FF BECAUSE OF the FF. Make sense?

Oh..and I am renewing my predicition that Mark is Dimitri's 'killer'.

Yes, Flgrl! My congrats as well.

WHH: I dunno. I know I've used the "great" Rafalski (the guy drowning in a urinal) as an example before, but if I were him I'd do anything, including embarrassing myself, to avoid standing in front of that enamel receptacle at 11:00 pm. We haven't seen Rafalski; I don't know if Stan was successful. It just occurred to me that Rafalski may have been one of the agents who resigned. ("If I don't work there, I can't drown there.")

Mark is Demitri's killer: Possibly, but is it intentional (maybe premeditated is better)? Is Mark sober when he pulls the trigger?

My own: Vreede's the mole. When he left the Field Office through the security door, he waited long enough for the "triple-star guys" to enter. Unless he was over-powered, these things don't happen by accident. One of the first things people who use security doors are taught is to wait until the door closes and audibly latches and (sometimes) to pull on the handle to test the door.

Bryce's Flash in episode 9 lasted about 1:20. One of the longest so far.

No FF or Fringe this week. *sob*

I guess I assumed that if Mark really does kill Dem, that that will be what drives him to drink again. Of course, even if he doesn't kill him, Dem's death alone could drive him to drink simply because it came true. The suspense is killing me :) Also, March 15 (that's the day he's supposed to be murdered, right?) is a Monday night...I guess I assumed it would be a Thursday, not sure if that's relevant or not :)

Good point. I was also looking at Mark and Aaron standing under the eave of Aaron's roof talking about needing a friend (but not a sponsor) and wondering if/how soon the two of them are going to go tie one on together. If they go to the bar where Kate works, what position would she take?

Meanwhile, scifiscoop.com says Lost on Feb 2 will be three hours, a clip show to bring us up to speed and a two-hour season premier. Do we start watching at 8:00 (for us easterners) or kick in the DVRs and join at about 8:30(?) so we can avoid the commercials? Decisions, decisions...

Well for me, that is a no-brainer. My TiVo only records regular television, so if I want to see LOST in all its high-def glory, I have to suffer through the invariably frequent, long and boring commercials!

As for V and FF shutting down, MAYBE it is because Sonya, Dominic and Elizabeth are required in HAWAII!? It could have been written into their contracts after all.

One can dream.

Hi all! I'm back (and yes it was me with a typo) and all is well with me and our little girl. Thanks for the well wishes.

I've been excited to see the Lost promos starting to show up and glad that I will actually have something to watch on Tuesdays now. My husband is watching 'V' and not me so I can't comment on that one, but am enjoying FF and will miss it while it's gone. I still have a problem with the accents though. Maybe it's because I'm married to a Brit, but for some reason it really irritates me when they do American accents, even if they are relatively good. I finally realized who Mark has modeled his on - Clint Eastwood. Seriously, take a listen next time and see if you don't agree!

We may not have to worry much about missing FF. They were supposedly only taking a week off and spoilers are already up on the Web for Ep 11. I both love it and hate it when British actors mess up pronounciation. Mark said, "Jericho is headQUARTERED in..." That's "HEADquartered," Joe! Why don't they catch and fix these things in post-production? There's a chance Fiennes was somewhere in the area. I know, I'm nagging. On about my fifth time through "Band of Brothers," I began to notice more Americanism/Britishism curiosities, but I'll watch it again.
Clint? Hmm, maybe. Clint's characters seem so imperturbable ("Unforgiven," "Absolute Power")

I was wondering if Vreede sent the text message to Olivia. We've only seen a few seconds of his Flash. We know he's technologically savvy because he stripped the recording of Demetri's phone call down to the background noise.

Scenario: Vreede was lurking in the background while Mark was staring at the Mosaic wall. Then he left the office through the security door, admitting the shooters. (See my earlier insufferable ramble!) Finally, to sow disaffection between Mark and Olivia, he sends the text message using the same technology Nadia (do they know each other?) used to block her call trail to block his.

You never know whether to believe spoilers, anyway.

PJ, I didn't sign your/the petition on Facebook about the spell checker. Maybe I should have, but I figured that if Facebook wanted to fix the problem, they would have the first time they heard about it. I just sat there and shook my head, not at the petition but at Facebook. C'est la vie.

I was surprised by a couple of things in Ep 10 of FF. I went into the episode knowing more than I wanted to know because some ill-advised people put some spoilers on the wiki and I was the one who got to do the cleanup.

I expected there to be a little wiggle room about who shoots Demetri. Something like, "Your weapon was found at the scene of the crime."

Is Simon a good guy?

I kinda smelled something when the "ambulance drivers" showed up. (Who ratted, btw?) I expected them to grab little Dylan so whoever would have a hostage to control Lloyd. Were they acutally supposed to grab both? What's all this angst on Lloyd's part over his wife's death; weren't they separated?

Dropping the other-world concept into the picture was kind of interesting. Did everyone see what would happen to themselves in some other version of the future? Maybe all the "blue-handers" are pulling the pin for nothing?

8) Jim

Hammer said...

Jim...I'm with you on the 'wiggle' room. The women saw the case file, not the crime, and we've misdirection on this show (leg in the wrong casket).

I guess they don't need the boy if have Lloyd himself.

Alternate universes coming?

I told my wife that Dim's wife was at a beach funeral a few weeks ago but I don't think I ever brought it up here...I was thinking of connections to LOST and remembered the 'burial at sea'. Turned out to be a memorial, (white at funeral? How tacky?).

Okay so, there have black outs before (Simon's technology swipers), so what were they stealing this time that took 2:17?

Hammer said...

Oh duh...the wiggle room is the fact that Mark ALREADY gave up his gun. Since I believe that things are happening BECAUSE of the FF, it may stand to reason the murderer gets the gun BECAUSE Mark gave it up, BECAUSE of his actions, because of the woman, etc, etc. Hmmm?

PJSander said...

Welcome back to the Little Island, Julie. Yes, your life has been VERY busy. Got some time on your hands now, though, eh?

FF continues to keep me entranced and irritated all at once. I feel a bit like they're being too stingy with the hints. I don't want to be told exactly what has happened all at once, but I would like to be able to put things together a bit more cohesively. I hope that makes sense. Some stuff is really obvious (ambulance, Benford's gun) and I think they are red herrings so we don't notice other hints they are leaving. My fear is that if we more specifically I, am confused, as someone who loves this genre, then the general population are going to give up.

Finally watched the most recent (though not very recent) episode of V. Getting interesting for sure. I think the casting has been great. I called the pregnancy pretty much right away. Question is - do the V know that the baby is a cross breed?

Favorite (or should I say favourite) line: Banging on about how the Americans make the best TV drama has become a cliche, but while it's true that American TV also creates acres of unspeakable dross that mercifully never cross the Atlantic, there's not really much of an argument about this.

Tall buildings on a left a lush vegetation on the right. The wallpaper on ABC's Lost page is intriguing, although it doesn't really tell us all that much.

I watched "Jughead," which includes the scene in which Desmond finds out about Theresa, last night.

I've always felt that we've been left in the lurch about her. She appears to be unstuck in time, but without the cerebral hemorage. I can't help but feel that this is one of those things we'll never get an answer about, unless it's in Lost - the novel. Is it already being written? By whom (Stephen King?)?

I'm on the waiting list for King's Under the Dome. Carlton tweeted that they are two refs to Lost in the new book. If you haven't seen it, it's about three inches thick!

Yeah, I may have written this in another thread, but profanity and vulgarity (p&v) in dialog, within limits, don't bother me because they help define the character. p&v in narrative are simply pointless and sometimes make it hard to get through King's stuff. p&v by characters have been known to get out of hand; think about the uncensored version of "Good Will Hunting!"

I clicked on Eloise Hawking because I thought she said it her first episode with Desmond. They wanted Faraday as the answer.

LA X?

I guess the episode one title isn't "official," since it hasn't appeared in an ABC press release yet but Here goes.

The season six poster has been released:

http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/File:LostSeason6OfficialPoster.jpg

In case you don't want to know, I'll try to be vague. It features 26 people and one dog (and no, I won't tell you which dog! *grin*). One very centric character has his back to the viewer. Everyone's visible, but some are closer to the camera than others; I'd say that about fifteen of them are in the front row. Of those who are further away, two I'd call extemely far away. Some of the characters, including the two far away, are dead (were dead?) as of the end of season five.

So here's the Jim theory: Oceanic 815 is going to fly right past the Island and land at LAX, but all of the people we've come to know and love(?) are supposed to be on the Island. The universe is going to course correct and they're going to end up back there. I don't know how. Do the people who died get to die all over again?

Be patient, Jim . Be patient. BE PATIENT!

The bad news is that the sooner it gets here, the sooner it's over, forever...

8) Jim

PJSander said...

You are right, Jim. But, over doesn't have to mean gone. We are slowly watching S5. (Slowly only because we have to wait for the disks from Netflix - we have watched three hours in a night at least once). Even though I KNOW the end result, I am still fully and thoroughly entertained with how the season is unfolding! So, while NEW episodes will be over, to me LOST will not be done for a long time!

I would like to talk about the poster, although it isn't exactly easy to see! Since it is official, and not particularly telling, I am going to say that it is OKAY to talk about the poster. However, let's mark our discussions about the poster at the top of the post, so that any who wish to avoid reading about it, may.

Thanks for sharing the link, JiG.

When you get to the pager scroll down until yopu can see the link to "Full Resolution" and click. On my machine, the image comes up large size, then goes back to small size, but the mouse cursor looks like a circle with a plus sign. Click again the the image should fill your screen.

Amazon wants between $45 and $50 for a season of Lost on blueray. Since I got five for Christmas, that's only another $250 (gulp!) to go to get the whole thing.

***POSTER TALK***
I found that I can right click and enlarge the poster, so it is a fantastic resolution! Before I did that, though, I went online to see if I could find another version - there is one, where the characters are closer together and in a line. Can't find any good closeups of that though.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to where people are standing. Charlotte, Libby, Eko and Shannon are in the back, but Daniel, Boone, Michael, Ana-Lucia, Juliet and Charlie are in the front. Rose, Bernard and Vincent look like an after-thought. Desmond is there, but not Penny. No Christian. No Aaron, Charlie Hume, or Ji Yeon, but I suspect that is about casting.

Interesting.

: ) P

PJSander said...

***POSTER TALK***

No Walt, either.

Here is a link to the other poster: http://www.docarzt.com/lost/the-lost-season-6-poster/

Differences: Miles, Charlotte, Shannon, Eko, Kate, Ben, Libby, Sun, Jin, Charlie, and Richard are wearing different clothes; Lapidus is in different clothes and a different spot; Desmond is in different clothes and facial hair; Sayid looks very different; Claire's hair is very different; as is Hurley's; Juliet is in a similar position, but the photos were taken at different times; Vincent is missing from one.

Exactly the same: Michael, Ana-Lucia, Locke (though his shirt is made to look different, his body is in the same position), Rose and Bernard's photo are the exact same.

I think the link that JiG gave us is to the most recent version. Some of the photos in the link I gave seem to be from earlier seasons.

There's much more room at DisneyWorld! It's a neat idea. I would love it, but I fear the Monster might be a little too intense for the younger set. I would like to see that engineered (imagineered?) in real time.

Alas, I think we're a niche group. I don't see Disney making the investment.

Is this for real? Because it was spinning around the web last April Fool's Day. Truth is, it is a great idea, even though the LOST crowd isn't quite as big as, say the Star Wars crowd. It could be a thrilling ride for everyone, but especially great for LOST fans. You don't have to have seen the show or movie that inspired a ride to enjoy it. Right?

He does. I only knew it was him by elimination.

Has everyone seen the "Last Supper" image, with many of the principals posed at a table as in THE Last Supper? (Locke is where Jesus would be sitting.) I guess they sought acceptance by having fourteen people in the shot.

Sheesh!

Speaking of polar bears (well, kinda), there's actually snow on the ground in north Georgia! One inch on the roads here is worth six inches in the northern tier of states because the local "talent" doesn't have a clue how to drive in it. I have lived much further north, btw.

Almost two weeks to the day too late for Christmas.

Interesting promo for season six:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C56Lgl6DorM

There's an item on one of the LP blogs that suggests that the reason Ben and Charles Widmore can't kill each other is that they are both kings (as in chess) and a king can never move adjacent to another king, let alone one capture it.

Soon.

How true!

I think they've got a lot to fit into eighteen "hours."

There are some things I want to know that I don't think we're ever going to find out:
* Why do pregnant women die in their second trimester?
* Why do the Others bury at sea?
* How does the Island move?
* More that I can't think of right now...

Oops, didn't mean to suggest otherwise. It's good work, though.

There's another one where "in season 6" Jack wakes up fully dressed in a hotel room with a woman whose face we do not see who needs medical help. Trouble is, I don't think it's Jack, although it is Matthew Fox; he looks too young.

NP. When you said promo, I thought you meant it was a Bad Robot sanctioned promo - kind of like the weird ones they did with the cast all dressed up and sort of dancing around the wreckage!

Thanks, PJ. Nothing that we wouldn't have seen in Season 6 trailers, if they had made any with new footage! *grin*

I'm surprised at the return of Harold Perrineau, considering that there was some acrimony. But, Michael's on the poster; so's Daniel, and Jeremy Davies wasn't too respectful of the bosses, either.

If they're doing anything with Michael, it has to be without Walt, yes? Malcolm David Kelly is way to old to portray an historical Walt; I don't care what angle you shoot him from.

I watched Eps 5x08 and 5x09 Sunday evening. I'm trying to pace myself.

(The library still hasn't coughed up Under the Dome, but almost at the top of the waiting list.)

We're rewatching S5. It is amazing how much I have forgotten. Dh said to me, "Why did Widmore need to hire Miles?" I honestly couldn't remember. Of course, then Naomi SAYS why, which is probably why I so easily forgot it - we never needed to discuss it!

Less than three weeks, peeps. You ready?!

I've been reading through that article that you posted PJ and I thought it was interesting that D&C (can't remember which one) said to re-watch season 1 before this final season...I think I might do a season 1 and season 5 re-watch, not enough time to watch the ones in between :)

I just watched Evie Lilly

I often thought Fox's claims sounded like a bunch of braggadocio. If he had gotten testy about future participation, they could have just killed Jack off. Sawyer could have morphed into the anti-Locke role or Widmore himself could have shown up and been anti-Locke. "I lied to you, John. I really gotta stop doing that...," Widmore smirked.

I hadn't heard about Lily's house burning. I just don't pay ebough attention to the actors.

Jim in Georgia said...

Maybe Flashforward does give us something to talk about. Their time slices have been a little fuzzy. Oct 6, Oct 31, and "sometime before Christmas" in Hong Kong were fairly clear. David Goyer said they were going to take advantage of the fact that Apr 29 is a Thursday. Of course, that was before they went into hiatus. Demetri's supposed to be murdered on Mar 15. Will his fate already be known to all when we see them again? Will Mark kill him in self-defense?

Would I fly round trip from Atlanta to Honolulu to watch one-half of a season premier that I can watch in its entirety three days later? I doubt it. This fan is not quite a fanatic, although my wife would probably disagree.

Episode 6x03, "What Kate Does," is listed on ABC's grid. Since "What Kate Did," way back when was an explanation of Kate's crime, does that mean she's about to do something else and flee to Australia, thereby attracting ther attention of Deputy U. S. Marshall Mars... Well, you get the idea.

If the answer to the above is "yes," does that mean we get to go through another series of trying to get everyone to go back? I kind of hope not.

I was thinking about the convo Ben and Widmore had about 'changing the rules'.

With the TT thing, maybe he meant killing someone in the wrong timeline. Going back to WHH...maybe Widmore didn't actually break the rules. Remember all the hinting around the something was wrong with the island before Ben moved it? Remember the doctor washing up on shore before he died and Dan's rocket and the light reflection issues. Maybe Keamy was able to kill her because they weren't in the timeline Ben thought they were in?

Okay, so I watched "The Incident" and some of the special features on Disk 5 tonight. The Sawyer/Juliet scene is still phenomenal. Clearly, no one submitted that episode for acting awards because they should both have won EVERYTHING.

A couple of things I thought of, which might have been discussed, but I don't remember...

First, when Sawyer, Juliet and Miles are in the 1954 Others camp (with the Korean war tents), there is a flash and the tents disappear. I don't remember when they flash to next, but unless it is less than a year before or after that scene, the trees that remained after the flash SHOULD have changed somewhat - grown or looked smaller. They did not.

The second thing, that I picked up from an "extra" is that Chang / Candle / Wickman had a prosthetic hand in some of the DHARMA movies, right? Well, in when the magnetic hoo-hah starts to happen, Chang's hand gets caught and Miles helps him get it loose. Interesting...

Jim in Georgia said...

PJSander said...
Chang's hand...

I haven't rewatched "The Incident" yet and haven't seen the extras on the last disk at all, but I argued long and hard on the LP that the only thing we actually know about Chang's arm/hand is that he favors it. I think it's possible that his injury caused him to lose the use of his arm. Tendons destroyed, that sort of thing. Time will tell.

I watched "Some Like it Hoth" last night. I'd forgotten what the reference meant -- Hurley writing "The Empire Strikes Back" for George Lucus! Hurley is a pain; the guy never found a secret he didn't want to give away. I can imagine him with a security clearance.
