Happily Ever After

Sounds like a fairy tale, doesn't it? But every fairy tale has its villain, a hero, a damsel in distress. What will our LOST fairy tale be about?

By my calculations, we are due for a Hurley episode. Unless Jacob and MiB will have one, or Miles or Frank. I vote for it being the Hurley show!

After this, there are only five more hours until the finale. Yikes!

Happy belated Miss Kim

I think we are due for a Hurley episode but I am hoping it is about Desmond. He has made only 2 brief appearances this year.

PJSander said...

Very true, L4E. He wasn't on the "season one" list, so he wasn't on my mind. However, D&C are known for dangling a story in front of us and then leaving it alone for a couple of weeks, so I am going to stick with Hurley. For now.

: ) P

Lindsay said...

I'm with L4E, I hope it's a Desmond story...he's been MIA for SO LONG!!! Of course, I would also like to see Hurley's FSW as well...so many questions, so little time :)

Shelley said...

I'm hoping it's des too. We've already had a glimpse at Hurley's FSW, and I can imagine (in real/island time line) Penny reading a story to young Charlie just before the chaos strikes.

Hammer said...

Two clues lead to Desmond:

He showed up in the last scene last week and he THOUGHT he was never coming back to the island and live happily ever after like all the Losties thought would happen if they left.

My second choice would be Jacob/MIB (crazy mom reference, she wants to live happily ever after?).

PJSander said...

Excellent point. I bet you are right. (Plus, I saw the photo that is up at TBI. LOL)

Well then... LOL.

Miss Kim said...

Well, I was going to say Desmond too....but it seems pretty evident that it will be. I would prefer it to be Hurley though...
Thanks to all for the birthday wishes...I even got a HB e-mail from Lostpedia which was pretty awesome even though I know it was probably computer generated. Still...I liked it. :)

Softball practice followed by Lions dinner meeting (trying to get on the board, so I gotta be there) which settles what I'm having for Lost dinner. Grilled steak and twice baked potatoes.

I'm rewatching The Package.
Jin says not to tell Paik that he and Sun are involved.
Keamy says "hey, don't worry about that; your secret's safe with me. Just bring me the money and then we could all live Happily Ever after, right?"

Miss Kim said...

Oh good catch! Maybe Keamy was setting us up for part two of Jin and Sun along with the whole Desmond thing!!!

Ahem. Dancing With the Stars DOES NOT belong on ABC right now. Why isn't last week's episode on like it is supposed to be? Hmmmmmm. Well, it gives me a little extra time to read up on last week's posts.

Miss Kim said...

Well. Wow.

PJSander said...

Just when I thought I had already seen my favorite episode of the season... WOW is right!

I covered the bottom part of the screen during the opening credits because last week, seeing Kevin Durand in the credits messed me up. I am SO glad! Mrs. Hawking! (I mean Mrs. Widmore) Daniel Faraday! (I mean Widmore) Penny Widmore! (I mean Milton) Charlie! (still Pace). FanFREEKINtastic!

: ) P

Jim in Georgia said...

Flashsideways is beginning to come apart!

Did Widmore tell Desmond what he needed to do during that twenty minutes Zoe referred to? Is that why he's willing to follow Sayid? Or is he just happy (in love?) and he's willing to do anything anyone suggests?

I think tonight may be the least number of main cast ever to appear in an episode, at least in the on-Island part.

It was good to see Minkowski pop up.

I popped over to the Big Island. PJ, you are an amazing woman. I am not sure I would have the patience to kindly inform someone how the British, and not Rush Limbaugh, pronounce Shed-u-al. I want to be you when I grow up.

I really liked the episode and I just LOVED the ending. Then I saw how we only had 5 episodes left and started to feel sad LOL. I know a lot of questions have been answered but how are they going to fit all this in 5 more episodes? Why do you think he wants the manifest? Is he going to go all crazy on everyone so they can glimpse into their "other lives" too?

Hammer said...

Jim I think demond knows what is going on now and jacob was referring to des as the person coming to help.

Pretty freakin' funny that sex-soo-al is the other British word you offered for clarification. Not garage or Tuesday.....sex-soo-al. ROTFL

One of my top 5 episodes ever! I was cheering through half of it! When I say Dominic interviewed about a month ago, he completely brushed off questions about Lost so I didn't think he'd be back. What a fantastic surprise! I wish I could remember things well enough to post them up, but I was just so excited to see them all that I can't remember anything.

Oh yeah: Who was George before? I recognize him but can't figure out why.

Why does Eloise know what's going on and Charles doesn't?

Is Desmond going to get all the passengers and give them a near death experience?

Why did Jack look so old?

Tasha said...

Who was George before

He was the guy that was on the freighter who had went crazy during the episode "The Constant"...can't remember his name.

Is Desmond going to get all the passengers and give them a near death experience?

That's what I was meaning in my comment...or asking

Honestly, I was just thinking of another word with a similar sound, but in retrospect, I was playing to the lowest common denominator. *g*

Then I saw how we only had 5 episodes left and started to feel sad LOL.

Five episodes and THEN the finale. Seven more hours. Plus, I imagine, a clip show.

Sorry Tasha and PJ, our posts were overlapping.

What of the rules? Whose rules? Jacob and MIB?

Did I mishear or did Eloise say "What happened, happened"?

Just stopped by TBI for the first time in over a year. Very few posts there, but I'm thinking everyone is just trying to soak it all in. Not much left to guess about anymore, I suppose.

It's been 45 minutes and there's only one theory about the episode on the LP. People must be flabbergasted.

Good point about Jacob and the person coming, Hammer. Does this make Des a Trojan Horse?

8) Jim

Hammer said...

In short order. Bedtime of Bonzo this week is that Juliette talking about coffee was her seeing Des and Penn's fsw. And widmore is on jacobs side.

Lindsay said...

She totally said WHH, and I think it's funny that she immediately knew who Des was...and I loved how Charlie was the one that brought it all together for Des (well Faraday too, but I like Charlie better!)...so Penny's last name was Milton...is that significant or something new?

PJSander said...

Penny's last name was Milton...is that significant or something new?

I think it is new. I don't recall it. I will check LP.

Bedtime of Bonzo this week is that Juliette talking about coffee was her seeing Des and Penn's fsw. And widmore is on jacobs side.

Maybe Juliet and Sawyer are at the coffee shop that Penny and Desmond go to!

I sure hope Widmore is on Jacob's side!

Lindsay said...

I also like how Charlie asked Des if he had ever experienced "conscience-altering love", I think what Des and Penny have is exactly that...

PJSander said...

Exactly, Lins.

On TBI, shadow asked:
And what does Love have to do with Charlie, Faraday, and Des remembering their other timeline?

My reply:
They are each others’ constants.

: ) P

Hammer said...

What does love have to do with it??? Really??? If not constants, why else would people sacrifice if not to be with their soul mates.

Jeez.

Oh, and TBI is poking the nerve again....show being made up as we go along????

Jeez again.

PJSander said...

On TBI, shadow wrote: Thanks, I forgot about that little detail, but I thought the significance of the constant was during conscious time travel..

I replied: Well this is where I think we are headed. I feel as if our flashsideways is a version of consciousness travel - to what WOULD have happened.

Thoughts?

: ) P

Hammer said...

I replied with this PJ:

Agreed…except for the WOULD have happened part. I think it(detonation and plane not crashing) very much did happen and Des’s job is help course correct and combine the timelines.

Jim in Georgia said...

Penny started out as Widmore last night on the LP. I questioned that and another sysop moved her to Milton. Now someone else has challenged the move and wants Widmore restored. Because she's Daniel's half-sister, is she Milton because she's the child of Eloise in a previous marriage or because she married and is divorced/widowed? In OT, Penny was Charles' daughter but it was suggested that she was not Eloise's. ("You had a daughter with an outsider" or something like that.)

Hammer said...

I took it as Penny is Charles daughter but when he was off island maybe his off island lover's name is Milton and they never married off island so Penny's mom gave her Milton.

Hammer said...

PJ, the more I think about it. I guess I don't think everyone is conscious TT'ing in FSW. I think both timelines really happened. It's not a 'what would have happened' scenario, but 'what did happen' because they changed the past.

I think Circus Mom's idea is loosely true. The original timeline is heading to the FSW and Des will be traveling to the FSW more to recruit the folks there remember the original time line and to help save the world.

PJSander said...

IMO, Penny is a Widmore, no matter what her last name. The detonation changed things AFTER 1977. Penny was born at that point. She is Widmore's daughter.

I suspect the "married / divorced" is the scenario, but who knows? Daniel's last name used to be completely different. Maybe in the original timeline, Daniel was so brilliant, that they changed his name to protect him from Widmore's enemies and in this timeline, that honor is Penny's?

: ) P

Hammer said...

Jim, sector 7 posted this on TBI:

I don’t think so. FSW Penny’s last name is Milton. Her maiden name is Widmore so obviously she was married to some guy named Milton – not Jack.

PJSander said...

PJ, the more I think about it. I guess I don't think everyone is conscious TT'ing in FSW. I think both timelines really happened. It's not a 'what would have happened' scenario, but 'what did happen' because they changed the past.

I didn't make myself clear, that's my fault, sorry. When I said "what would have happened" I meant, "what DID happen" because of the detonation. I agree that it all ties together with CM's original theory.

Jim in Georgia said...

I'll give up on my rant that the bomb could not possible have exploded; a lot of things couldn't possibly have happened. But I will go back to some earlier rambling that the bomb pushed everyone off to the FST but not quite hard enough. Some of the tenuous connections to OT did not break and, as a result, the FST will not "stick."

I think the boomerang in Sayid's segment was a telling point. The FST "missed" and everyone will come back to OT. A rubber band analogy works, too.

8) Jim

Hammer said...

Whew PJ. I thought you changed you thinking....LOL.

Hammer said...

@ FSW not sticking...I like it.

Shelley said...

Hammer...I agree that Juliet's dutch comment might be about Penny and Des; as soon as he mentioned coffee, I yelled, "GO DUTCH!!!".

I also think Milton is the lady's last name whom Widmore had an affair with off-island. Penny's mom's last name.

This episode confirmed my theory that it's not 2 timelines, that both do/did happen, and that the FSW is a Jacob-less time line that comes AFTER Widmore blows up and sinks the island.
The FSW has a very MIB-grant-your-wish feel to it. Everyone has what they thought they always wanted but at the expense of losing something else.

FSW Des wants the manifest so that he can he can let Charlie know his love was on the plane. (just a guess)

I can't wait to see what Des does with the list. When he said he wanted it to "show them something" though, it made me think of Widmore asking Locke to go to the O6 and convince them to go back to the island...

Late to the party this week but I have watched it twice and am more confused than ever. Right when I saw Desmond I knew I was in trouble.:)

I was struggling with the relationships between all those crazy Widmores. Regardless of realitys/timelines, Daniel and Penny are half-siblings which means they have one parent in common, Charles. Eloise is Faraday's mother, Penny's is unknown.

lost4ever said...

Charlie showed Des by trying to kill him. Like his life flashing before his eyes. Wil Des try and force near death circumstances for everyone?

Right but all he saw was Charlie's hand. The MRI is what triggered the actual vision of Penny.

This whole manifest thing is puzzling. I cant remember the exact number but I am sure it was well over 200 passengers on the plane. How will Desmond know which of the 300 hundred to contact? I think Shelley is onto something about getting ahold of Claire. After all they did have a nice chat.

lost4ever said...

when Hawking told Des that he had the one thing he had always wanted, the approval of Widmore...but no life with Penny, Dan got to play piano and become a classical musician, but no Charlotte...

Right and we have seen more evidence in other FSW. Locke is with Helen, Nadia is alive and well as is Dogen's son.

I wonder what Eloise meant by "violation" ? Did Charles send Desmond to tell Eloise about Charlie because he knew Desmond would stumble on to Penny?

lost4ever said...

Did Widmore tell Desmond what he needed to do during that twenty minutes Zoe referred to? Is that why he's willing to follow Sayid?

That's the part we didn't see...yet. Desmond sure was eager to follow both suggestions after his "experience", first Widmore's then Sayid's.

Des will be traveling to the FSW more to recruit the folks there remember the original time line and to help save the world.

Yes, but how? That may have been the plan but he is now on his way to Locke's camp. I guess i am confused as to what we saw. When Widmore turned the machine on did Desmond actually travel to FSW or did he instantly know there was one?

PJSander said...

L4E, welcome back to "the game" your voice was missing!

I know it is a hopelessly romantic thought, but wouldn't it be great if somehow in the FSW, Desmond got them all BACK on the plane? Or even just the LOSTies that died? So they could all truly live "Happily Ever After" together in Paradise (LOST)?

Oh never mind - Ji Yeon and Charlie Hume wouldn't be there.

Skip that.

MAN IN BLACK: I don't have to ask. You brought them here. Still trying to prove me wrong, aren't you?

JACOB: You are wrong.

MAN IN BLACK: Am I? They come. They fight. They destroy. They corrupt. It always ends the same.

JACOB: It only ends once. Anything that happens before that is just progress.

Perhaps this refers to our losties as a whole, not individual groups. They keep coming back to the island in a loop until it ends.

Shelley said...

The more I think about the s1 opening scene with Jack's eye, the more I'm starting to think that he DID flash out of 815 (into the jungle) as someone else suggested. If so, that means 815 might not have been his first trip to the island, and I will love LOST even MORE for giving us that giant clue right from the start.
It also helps me understand how Des was able to see the future after the swansplosion. As I understand it, the only way you can see the "future" is if you've already lived it; making the "present" a repeat/type of the past. I hope I said that right.
This also goes with the "come, destroy," dialogue, but I have a hunch that Jacob wasn't truthful when he said "it only ends once." Unless he meant for MIB.

PJSander said...

Makes sense for this show but that is the complete opposite of the definition and meaning of the term "future".

lost4ever said...

To me, this was the most revealing convo from the last episode.

ELOISE: Someone has clearly affected the way you see things. This is a serious problem. It is, in fact, a violation. So, whatever you’re doing, whatever it is you think you’re looking for...You need to stop looking for it.

DESMOND: Do you, do you know what I'm looking for, Mrs. Widmore?

ELOISE: I don't know why you're looking for anything? You have the perfect life. On top of it, you’ve managed to attain the thing you wanted more than anything--my husband's approval.

DESMOND: How do you know what I want?

ELOISE: Because I bloody do.

How does Eloise know what Desmond wanted in the other reality/timeline? Has she also experienced something similar to Desmond ?

Shelley said...

"it wasn't a dream, it was a memory." [/scottish accent]

whether it's the future or the "future", if it's a memory, it's already happened.

lost4ever said...

if it's a memory, it's already happened

Right on. If its already happened its in the past.

lost4ever said...

I'm just going by basic definitions from Webster, which obviously doesn't apply to this show, just like logic.

Shelley said...

How does Eloise know what Desmond wanted in the other reality/timeline? Has she also experienced something similar to Desmond ?

I think the FSW takes place after what we're seeing now. As I said earlier, The FSW has a very MIB-grant-your-wish feel to it. Everyone has what they thought they always wanted but at the expense of losing something else. Maybe due to the absence of Jacob?
But in island time, Des already HAS Penny. So the one thing he'd want, 2nd to her, is Widmore's approval.
Daniel's recollection of the bomb (which was post-2004) also leads me to believe that THAT was "memory", and that the FSW is another loop after island-time.

PJSander said...

I think the FSW takes place after what we're seeing now.

You mean after what we are seeing in "island time" now? As in the FSW is almost a flashforward? So, let's say, at some point in the future on the island, MIB says, "I will make it so you never crashed" and sends them back?

I get it. It makes about as much sense as anything else, I guess.

: ) P

Shelley said...

yes PJ, I guess that's a better way to say it; FSW is a FF.
I could be way off, but right now it still seems possible.
Plus I think that jumping around on one time line is easier for the average viewer to grasp than a limitless number of alternate/parallel time lines.

Too bad Widmore's electromagnetic blast didn't leave Des naked again!

Shelley said...

So, let's say, at some point in the future on the island, MIB says, "I will make it so you never crashed" and sends them back?

If they were willing to bomb-splode the island before, then I don't see why they wouldn't be on board THIS time. Especially if there's something in it for them.

Meanwhile, all that journal/Daniel talk on the other blog makes me curious what he was up to while in the 70s in Michigan. He could've been time traveling that whole time. MAYbe.

I think Adam & Eve are Rose & Bernard. Mainly because we haven't seen them since the 70s. My 2nd guess is Jin & Sun. The reason I think both of these guesses is because both couples are from Season 1. AND, since the bodies weren't together, it made me think of couples that were separated initially. (yes, penny and des could fit for the argument) Rose & Bernard were separated after the crash, and Jin & Sun have been separated more than once. Either way, I think it will be a season 1 couple just to come full circle.

Hammer said...

There are fourteen people in the "Last Supper" shot that was floated before the season began.

Of those, five (Ilana, Claire, Hugo, Miles and Frank) have not had a centric episode. There are five episodes (1x12 through 1x16) before the finale. I'm not sure if there's a one-to-one relationship there.

Ilana is still a mystery. How did Jacob come to be like a father to her?

We don't know what happened to Claire for three years. How was "Christian" involved?

We all "know" there's a Hugo episode in the queue.

How much more is there to know about Miles? He asked his dying mother why he has the ability he has, but we never heard the answer.

I've always thought of Frank as a sort of late-comer and almost coincidental to the story.

8) Jim

Hammer said...

I think Frank is almost a confirmation that the story is made up as it goes. Smokey killed the pilot of the 1st 815 flight right away. Frank was 'supposed' to be on that flight. Frank was 'supposed' to be on the island to help MIB fly off the island.

Seems pretty consistent with MIB/Smokey's m.o.

LOL. As far as I am concerned, if they weren't in Season one, they are a newcomer. To me, BEN is practically a newcomer.

If Frank is a newcomer, is he a red-shirt? I think no more so than Charlotte or Daniel. He isn't as "new" as MiB, or Ilana, and I don't think any of them are coincidental at this point. JMO

As for centric stories - I think Hurley's HAS to be next... and I for one, am excited!

I dunno. Ilana told Bram that Frank could be a Candidate, but we don't know why she said that. "Lapidus" was not shown on the cave wall or on the compass in the lighthouse. Later, Ilana seemed to know the names of the Candidates, allowing for the uncertainty over which Kwon was which.
